Keeping Gaudreau and Tkachuk and moving Mangiapane in an Eichel deal seems like the best outcome to me. That will create 1 elite line, and one legitimate #1 line with Lindholm as the centre. Then you have Backlund as the shut-down centre, and depending on how it shakes out, a big body like Ruzicka learning to play centre on the 4th line between the Ritchie brothers... I like it.


I love Mangiapane, but he is going to see a big contract increase after this season. There is that to consider as well. Definitely depends on if and for what Tkachuk is willing to extend for as well.


Mangiapane should very much be an option as a trade chip in acquiring Eichel. There shouldn't be any untouchables, IMO, but rather how rich the overall package end up as is what matters to me, and how many legitimate scoring lines can the Flames create after everything is said and done.

Flames need to be cognizant of the cap here and in that proposal they lose yet another part to the Left side D and this time a cost controlled one. Treliving almost surely is trying to move at least 1 piece that has significant AAV otherwise he could pigeon hole himself ahead of UFA and give himself little flexibility. Cap space is a good as gold this time of year so Tre hopefully is smart at managing it; I’m always my most nervous this time of year with this team anymore.

I'm refreshing CP almost every minute in hopes that the thread titled '[Trade] Jack Eichel to Flames' appears. I can't stop.

I'm also prepared for the crushing disappointment that he gets traded to Vegas or elsewhere.

Honestly. The flames could easily match/beat that offer if that’s the true package. Plus I imagine most GMs would place a bet that the flames’ first round pick would be a higher pick than Vegas’ first round pick.

This reeks of Vegas using the media to get back into it. I think they're on the outside of the Eichel deal and all these whispers are desperation. Fear the teams that no one is talking about. ANH, MIN, and CGY.

At this point I just want to know what the direction of the flames is and it feels like Eichel has been a bit of a distraction. Disappointed to have not see an extension announced for Johnny as of yet.
