Of course there is no possibility of re-signing him, and you said yourself that the Flames aren't going to make any moves for the next three years. Nosirree Bob, they'll have exactly the same roster until all the players walk as UFAs at the end of their current contracts, and that will be the end of the Calgary Flames.

Fun fact: Did you know that every player is eligible for UFA status at age 27, not just those who play for the Flames? Bonus fact: Did you know that some of them actually re-sign with the same teams? Bet that blows your mind!

I’m not a huge fan of Zibanejad. I don’t think he’s a clear upgrade on any of our current three centres (Lindholm, Monahan, Backlund).

HDCF%: 42.44

…I just don’t want Zibanejad. He is not an upgrade on Monahan. Zibanejad can’t keep his head above water at even strength.

One would think if they are dumping Mika Z, that they are trying to make room for Eichel.

Don’t know if they would want Monahan.

We had the Strome rumours earlier but those seem to have disappeared. Maybe they like the returns for Mika Z more.

Can’t imagine what from the Flames would interest them.

Valimaki? Mika Z has one year left then UFA but could extend with the Swedish Mafia here.

I’m intrigued with a second line of Monahan-Mika Z-Mangiapane.

You really don't think Zibanejad is an upgrade over Monahan? The guy who had 41 goals in 57 games two seasons ago? Wasn't quite as good this past season but he had covid and struggled for a while after coming back. Was really good again once he got going. He was still miles ahead of Monahan though.
