I see both sides of this, but, to be fair, when Monahan is playing hurt, he is awful, which makes me question whoever is making the decisions to allow it. Even if you are not risking further injuries (no doubt a contentious issue for the medical experts), you are devaluing an asset and hurting the team...

No doubt. Why the hell do they let him limp around the ice?

How much is Monahan actually disclosing? I think it's pretty common for players to hide as much a possible and medicate.

What would people’s thoughts be if the Flames moved a package like Dube+12th overall for Reinhart and sign him to a 6 year deal at the 6.75M Gio was making? Let’s just assume Johnny is re-signed so essentially Reinhart is being added to the existing core.

Gaudreau-Lindholm-Tkachuk
Mangiapane-Monahan-Reinhart

Solid top 6 and if they sign Edler that would fill the veteran hole on the back. Get some Sutter types for the bottom 6 along with Backlund, Lucic and hopefully at least 1 kid.

The pro rebuild crowd will hate it but I think that is a dangerous top 6 especially with Mangiapane’s continued ascent.

I have never questioned the guys toughness. But attendance rate needs an asterisk when, as you pointed out, you're not very effective playing with an injury.

I guess Dube is on the 3rd line? Does Pelletier have a spot?

I’ve given up on monhan. I don’t mind your plan if monahan is swapped out for a new 2nd line center that can skate. Who would do that swap though?

Or is Dvorak their plan??????

Bottom line is with the cap space the flames have and the amount if boxes they have left to fill the plan will look similar to yours unless one of Gaudreau, monahan or tkachuk are leaving.

I think monahan adds the least out of those 3.

Get out the popcorn.

What???

JC, I wouldn't trade Dube for Reinhart (considering the cap repercussions), nevermind adding the 12thOA pick for Reinhart. That is one of the worst proposals I have seen on here recently, which is REALLY saying something.

As much as I don't like trading picks, I would be in favor of proposals like this. The Treliving Sutter combo need to ice a competitive team NOW. If the results don't markedly improve, let the next management team rebuild.

I just don't get the fascination with Reinhart. I know we need a RW desperately. But he is slow and not all that good. The Flames are already lacking speed, spending another $6.75M on a guy like him is just not what they need.

If you want to spend the 12th on a player (that makes sense), I am all for it. But not the pick and Dube, for the privilege of paying Reinhart $6.75M

Yup, would have to be Monahan for Reinhart

I wouldn't mind Reinhart as a target but that price seems steep for a guy who probably a true difference maker.

I would rather have Dube and pick 12 and I am not pro rebuild.

There has been continued dialogue between the Coyotes and Bruins this week, with multiple players names out there, including some Bruins prospects. I’m curious if they get to the finish line. BOS has been linked to several AZ players.

I am trying to look at realistic targets and what I think they will cost. It is more for discussion than what I personally want to see happen. It is the type of move I could see Treliving considering since he wants to win now and this adds a bona fide top 6 in his prime.

It is certainly not the direction I want the team to go. I want to shake up the core rather than add a piece to that group up front. I do think it is a dangerous top 6 but I don’t think that is the type of deal the Flames should be making.

I really only want that pick in play for a true superstar. Flames need to keep their futures.

Arizona wants to be able to pick today. Boston is in win now mode so their pick might be available. Might be a few players on the coyotes that would be worth a late first round pick.

Crouse really fits the Bruins style of play and would have to imagine to some extent that he would be involved.

That likely depends entirely on Monny's health, which is a big question mark these days.

We saw what an injured Monny did to Johnny last year.

If he's no better this year, that 2nd line will not be good, likely forcing Backlund into the #2 centre position, which weakens the third shutdown line.

Monny's health I think is a big part of how good Calgary will be this year. A healthy Monny makes the whole line up fall into place IMO.

I would take Dvorak over Crouse. He'd probably be worth a mid to late 1st for a team in win now mode.
