Last I heard the Oilers wanted a one-year term, and Smith wanted more than that.

Player wins again. Well done Kenny!

Good on Mike Smith for getting them to sign him as a 40 and 41 year old goalie. The Zamboni goalie was 42, so I sure the Oilers think he has 2 to 3 season left in him.

There is something in the water in Edmonton. My god...multi-year?

Good on Smith for cashing in though.

When the Oilers hired Holland, I figured he must have learned some lessons from the disastrous end to his tenure in Detroit.

Guess not.

Realistically, it can't be more than 2, right? So, like, a 2x2?

We are about 7 years removed from the McTavish years. As we stand today how would you rank the GMs that have come through. MacTavish just might have done better than the others. Chiarelli seemed like he had a plan. He panicked when things went sideways. Holland though. I just don't get what his plan is.

Wonder what impact losing Larsson has on his performance too.

In his last 3 years - 2 were bad, 1 was good. He's 39. Going to guess last year's results are not repeated. But Oilers gonna Oil.

Edmonton is No Good IX:That's A Team That Knows How To Lose: a series , a trade, #1 overall draft picks, a UFA, a jersey, a mascot design, a contract signing .

Please feel free to add on.

Have to wonder if the lockout setup was better for him. He was one of the worst goalies for letting in a bad one on home ice and just unraveling. The crowds might be getting to him. Expect a brutal year for him in Edmonton with his age and his shakiness in front of fans at rexall.

But what was the AAV that they agreed to?

I'm just going to go ahead and guess...
