I am watching the rodeo and notice that the winners are getting a cheque for $50,000 didn't they get $100,000 before?. Did the Stampede say why they are paying them less this year?

Seems obvious, no? Less revenue = smaller prize

Calgary Stampede has lots of money they hoard away and cry poverty. They could have afforded to pay $100,000 to the winner like past years.

Man, I’d kill to be able party hard with the young ones again. Between being early thirties, a baby on the way, and Covid killing the last year of social life, I feel like a ####ing geriatric.

My wife and I are in our 30s, and despite me hating night clubs, us and a bunch of our friends are gonna hit the clubs one night just for ####s and giggles.

I wouldn't mind having the body and tolerance to do that again just for ####s sake.

But then I remind myself that it was never worth it when I went and got absolutely wrecked with my then high school friends.

Just ended up broke and hungover, chilling in someone's basement with a bunch of dudes I didn't even like.

Now I know how to go out, date and seduce interesting women in a coherent state with at most a couple drinks in my system and get the sort of gratification that never happened in my partying phase.

Clubs are one of the worst places to meet women anyways. So unless there's live music, there's really not much to get out of it.

I don't even necessarily disagree with all of your points, but I get the feeling that the women at you are dating and seducing are definitely "interesting".

Also, YourFather is disappointed in you.

Well naturally, one must navigate through a few snakes in the grass to find the gems.

The point is that this way of life is much more enjoyable and won't kill me.

Sorry to MyPops.

Alrighty...now that it's over, I can crunch some numbers. Since the official activation for Stampede at 16:00hrs on the 8th, to the official deactivation at 04:00hrs on 19th, we dispatched 17,760 calls. That boils down to 1.17 dispatched calls per minute, every single minute of Stampede.

That is lower than our 'average' of 18.5-22k that we usually get during Stampede. It's not the lowest, though...2016 holds that record, with 500 less than this year got.

What's it like during an average summer week? like the week before and after Stampede?

I loathe 'Drinking Gardens' of any kind.

Why can I not purchase a beverage, amble about the grounds with it like a civilized human, consuming it at my leisure, and then purchase another when I want to?

You want to know why? Its the rest of you.
