So what is exactly the condition on the pick? If he plays an NHL game they don’t get the pick? If that’s it, that really sucks for Ladd.

The opposite — if he plays a game in 22-23, they get the pick.
Arizona has incentive to play him.

Good, that would be awful for Ladd if it was the other way around. I could see the NHLPA having something to say about it.
