St. Louis just looking to dump $7.5M so they can drop $8.5+ on Landeskog?

Given Tarasenko is damaged goods, doesn't seem like that bad a move?

The doctors didn't fix the problem the first two surgeries, apparently they have this time. So if Tarasenko is 100% come training camp is dumping a 40 goal scorer under 30 for nothing a bad move? I think it is. Now if there is significant doubt he will be the same player that is different. We don't know because we don't have that info.

Pretty clear there's not a lot of interest from other teams for Tarasenko. Will be interesting to see of the Kraken view him as worth the risk.

Even if Seattle doesn’t want him they likely can flip him for an asset.

He’s scored 40 goals one time… he’s a 30g/75pt guy.

Ok, doesn't change anything though. If he returns to that form and you exposed him for nothing that is pretty bad.

That's assuming a lot. If the Blues are exposing him, that suggests they're not confident he'll bounce back.
Kraken could take him, eat ~$2-3M of his cap hit and flip him maybe. But that $7.5M cap hit is going to scare any GM.

Surely, the Blues could have traded Tarasenko elsewhere. There has got to be a team that would be willing to pay and use him for a protection spot.

I am not assuming anything because I don't know the medical report. I am just dealing in hypothetical scenarios. He very well could be a shell of the player he was. Or his shoulder might be strong again and he bounces back. I have no idea.

But I was told Tarasenko was going to be the main piece in return for Tkachuk

Fair enough. If his shoulder is on the mend. I'd take a flyer as an RW option. Would have to come at a reasonable price, though. Tkachuk is just silly. (not saying you proposed that, referring to the rumor from the other day)

I think this is st. Louis hoping they just get clear and free of the contract. No salary coming back no salary retained.

Domi, I have to think, will get selected. He only has 1 year left on his deal, and given prime minutes through the season he could put up points that make him a target at the trade deadline.
Unless they strike a deal to protect him, I have to think Seattle takes Tarasenko as well - even if it's just to flip him (with money retained?).
