Seems fair to me. He's not an elite player and he's not going to be a $5 million player in the back half of the deal. Just because other players are making more doesn't mean it's right.

I think Landeskog will get at least 7.5M. Produces like a 1st line player and has 50 PIMs a season. Tough to play against

I'd rather 7M on Landeskog vs 5M+ on Hymen aka Clarkson

Landeskog's production has been pretty much the same even when MacKinnon and Rantanen were still developing. Won the Calder before either were on the team

Has never produced at an elite level although the 18/19 season was very good. Very good complementary player.

Why in the hell are we talking about Landeskog?? The only position we don't have a shortage of is LS LW so that is exactly what we should go after! Smh.

Holy smokes is Landeskog ever under valued on this board.
Since he came into the NHL...31 players have out produced him in the entire league.
Only 5 guys at his position have been better in the points department.
He is a great 2 way guy and absolutely a leader of men. As an example he was an assistant captain of the Swedish Olympic team at age 22. A team that included Zetterburg, Karlsson, OEL, Backstrom, Steen, the Sedins etc.
He isnt a guy this club can really use unless JG or MT are traded though as once again the club would be LW heavy on salary.

I could understand the benefit in losing gio for just the cap space if the flames can make good use of that cap space. If they could get eichel while keeping Gaudreau, tkachuk, Lindholm and Mangiapane, I think it will be a huge boost for the team. I think treliving’s best offer that he can stomach could end up being:
1st round pick
Dube
Monahan
Zary/Pelletier
It’s a huge price to pay and it has risks with it. I think Monahan being part of the package helps even out the risk to the flames. One could argue it’s equally likely that neither Monahan or eichel will ever be the player they once were due to injury. Monahan could very well outproduce eichel next year.
Buffalo gets a proven 1B-2A center with term and 3 young, cost-controlled players that all have potential to be top 6 forwards (Dube, Zary/Pelletier, Sillinger/coronato/Lysell/Lucius).

That package is not going to get Eichel.

Hyman is nothing like Brower or Neal. He is a lot closer to Landeskog.
Not all free agents are created equal. You like trashing everything the Flames do or are considering, but you just sound like an old man yelling at clouds.

Hyman is a good player. He has more points per game than Mangiapane and Monahan over the last 2 seasons. He plays the right way. Take Landeskog off MacKinnon's wing and their point totals probably aren't that dissimilar (like their playing styles).
Comparing him to Neal just shows that the person has no idea what they are talking about.

Zach Hyman is the guy who plays with Mitch Marner and/or John Tavares and/or Auston Matthews.
It ain’t him.

We're talking about a 29-year-old crash-and-bang type player who wants a seven-year deal and has spent his entire career stapled to Auston Matthews.
Reminds me of when Clarkson was a 30-goal scorer with Parise and then immediately became a fringe NHLer immediately after being taken away. Landeskog has proven he's a top-line player over his entire career in various different situations (although I'd be extremely wary about giving him a big deal).
Hyman is a disaster waiting to happen. If he gets a seven-year deal in UFA, I think we're talking about it as a buyout candidate by summer 2022.

Depends how you define elite.
Are the top 50 players in the league elite? Seems like a pretty big group if so. Not even sure he is a top 50 in the league. Close though
