Icon31 Preds trade Arvidsson to the Kings for a 2021 2nd and 2022 3rd

Elliotte Friedman
@FriedgeHNIC
Something to keep an eye on: hearing LA/NASH have been working on a Viktor Arvidsson deal. Should get clarity today.

Pierre LeBrun @PierreVLeBrun
Further to what @FriedgeHNIC was speculating, it’s not done yet, but all signs pointing to Viktor Arvidsson getting traded to the LA Kings likely today.

Elliotte Friedman @FriedgeHNIC
Return for Arvidsson is a 2021 second and a 2022 third. Both are LA’s picks (they have several).

LA could be good next year. I could see them challenging for a playoff spot.

They're one of the more exciting teams, so many top-end forward prospects

I think Arthur Kaliyev could be one of the bigger steals in a long time, I could see him putting up 30+ goals a year

I think they will be good next year. They’re going to be aggressive this summer, and have the best collection of young players in the league.

Trade now done, per Lebrun.

If we're going after a swede out of Nashville, I want Forsberg

Kings have an extra 2nd, and 3rd and their 4th this year is the Flames Forbort deal.

Which 2nd and 3rd is a big difference.

LA or St. Louis 2nd (40 or 49)

LA or Leafs 3rd (72 or 89)

Both are La's picks per Friedman

The 2nd is 39th OA this year so almost a 1st

Oh Dreger. Haven't been tipping your guy who gets the faxes at the central registry enough to get those details from them, when other journalists did get that info.

As Preds fan I hate this deal (I have yet to see a Preds fan who doesn't hate this deal). They probably couldn't gotten more at the next trade deadline. After the expansion.
I wonder if they're clearing cap for something.

Right...40 becomes 39 because of Yotes getting dinged.

So that's what a trade for 3 years of excellent mid-roster AAV should look like. Huh.

I imagine this cements NAS going 4-4

Josi
Ellis
Ekholm
Fabbro

Kunin
Forsberg
Duchene
Johansen

It's not inconceivable they leave either of them exposed.

Feels like this is just the start of an L.A Kings shopping spree.

Nice pick up for the cost.

That seems like pretty good value... I'm not up to speed on the preds roster (for expansion) or cap situation, but I'm guessing it helps both.

Is it possible this trade was done due to Nashville believing they'd lose him to Seattle, or LA acuring him to allow Seattle to take him instead of someone else on LAS roster?

Why would LA spend draft picks for a player just to lose him in expansion. If they needed a body to meet exposure requirements they could just sign a journeyman to a league minimum deal.
