SN should know that the 1993 comparison is a far fetched one. The 93 Habs were a strong team, 6th overall, and not underdogs in any series. They also had a veteran coach in Demers and veteran assistant coach in Laperierre.
Both the 86 and this year's team went into the playoffs with a rookie head coach. The OT records are fairly close, 3-1 in 86 and 4-1 this year.

That's exactly what the Habs did in the 89 semi finals, winning game 5 at home and then wrapping it up on the road in Philly (Spectrum).

Again the entire league passed but it's a knock on the Flames.
I suppose they could have picked him up....so could Toronto, Vegas, and Winnepeg
To criticize is fine but everytime a guy scores a goal in the playoffs the Flames should have signed him or picked him up. Perry is okay, does he get the Flames 2 more wins? IDK, Habs only won 24 with him.

Perry wouldn't have changed the Flames fortunes, so.. why does it matter.

Vegas can pound sand.. but.. Habs haven't experienced near enough adversity in their run. Been a little too fortunate for my liking. Have to make these guys work and not just sit on a 1-0 lead and rely on Price to punch their ticket to the finals.

This is a much different time with different league influences involved. Do you really think the NHL is going to let the Montreal Canadiens who have won a boatload of cups and are a Canadian team with a rabid fanbase beat out their golden child? It won't happen. The bias on officiating for Vegas will only get stronger in game 6. To win the series the Habs not only have to beat Vegas, they have to beat head office as well. With the speed of the game and things out of the officials controls it can technically be done but very highly unlikely.

lol they missed one high sticking call and Montreal won the game anyway
everything else has been even, basically not calling anything. Montreal constantly diving probably makes it look worse for them.
Powerplays were 1-1 last game...Montreal got away with crosschecking a guy in the back of the head face first into the boards but I don't see that on my social media today.

Do you not think he could have given 2 more wins for the flames and 2 less wins for the habs?

Umm...really? constantly diving? Where you getting that from? I get you hate the Habs and they have Perry on their squad but don't get it twisted man...there's clearly been more non-calls in favour of Vegas... and the Habs are far from divers lol that's actually quite laughable.
I do like that they put the whistles away, I hate seeing 10+ PP a game, so I agree that on a few non-calls there's some media blowing it out of proportion given it's round 3 of the playoffs, but man...It's become so obvious it's borderline embarrassing.

You heard me...I think the Habs are flopping
right before the high stick in OT Suzuki has a chance to drive to the net but instead takes one of the biggest dives I have every seen. Perry dives on almost every shift. (why don't I get a call? cry)
Vegas is dominating ozone time so really they should be the ones getting more calls if we are going to call everything
Montreal fans sound like a European crowd booing every time a player from their team falls down. Don't let the Canadian media fool you.
How many games have the refs cost the Habs? I'll wait
I hate both teams FYI

haha ok. Perhaps you haven't seen much hockey then...there's been waaaaaay worse "dives".
I always love people whining about Montreal's "obnoxious fans"... at least they're passionate and not lame spectators...
Can't say the the refs cost the Habs any games, never said they did...they certainly COULD have in theory but that's just playing the "what-if" game. it's not really the point...well, at least not mine anyways. If anything it just makes the victories that much sweeter.
Yes, Vegas SHOULD be the team drawing more penalties, that I'll agree with. I just feel like, based on the way penalties have been called this series - if it was MTL committing the infraction that ref's arm woulda gone up immediately.
In the end, we'll mostly agree to disagree I suppose. My main rebuttal was related to the "divers" comment specifically anyways.

Let's see how the next few games are called. I am confident the ice will definitely be tilted in Vegas's favour.

I never said the reffing was good just that it has been equally poor IMO

Well you seem to be the only one with that opinion and it sounds more like you are basing that off your dislike for the Habs and their fans then what has actually taken place on the ice.

Again, Canadian media/fans
Reffing last game was even...missed calls on each side
Perry was a dirty player and a diver for 20 years until he moved to Canada I guess
Remember when Stajan ended his career?
Mcnabb punched a guy in the face no penalty! wind it back his stick was being held for 20 seconds before that

When Connor McDavid can play eight playoff games over two seasons, yet not draw a single penalty - despite ranking sixth in the regular season over that span in penalties drawn - there is a problem
