My roomie jsut bought a kenmore vac for like 400 bucks, read about it in Consumer Reports and it really works on the cat hair--and there is tonnes of it from a 25 lb kitty
*cue the lame line* this vacuum really does suck.

I ruined a couple of Kirby's when pet hair would tie up the rotating brush. What a pita that was trying to cut the dog hair out of the brush. I just use a shop vac now.

I have the Dyson DC-15. We used to have a regular vacuum and I can't beleive the difference the Dyson makes - the amount of dog hair it picks up astounds me every time I vacuum.
It is really expensive, but worth every penny.

Yeah, I've been doing some research online and it seems to be the one everyone recommends, but the thing is like $700!!
I went to the Best Buy website and did a search for "Pet Vacuums" and found a Eureka model listed that is selling for $150. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1095432951673
What's important? The amperage of the vacuum?

We had an Oreck, and not to repeat the line froom the Dyson commercial, but it really does "lose suction" over time.
We switched to a Dyson, and it picks up a ton of dog hair, even when we can't see any. The carpet looks brighter and newer, the house smells better, etc. I wouldn't ever go back. There are things I don't like about it--the handheld attachments are kind of a pain to use, and it's not really great on bare floors. But overall a great vacuum.

Funny question, considering I just saw this in the CT flyer 10 minutes ago.
If you do happen to get it. Let me know how it works. We got a cat and a dog.

We got the slightly older one. It's the DC14 Animal. It was like 399, IIRC. They were pretty cheap on ebay, NIB and everything.
