I think it would be a huge challenge for the Alexandra bridge right downtown. Especially on the Ottawa side were the streets near the bridge are narrow and short, with a lot of traffic lights. There isn't much of a runway. The Gatineau side isn't much better.
The MacDonald-Cartier Bridge could handle more traffic, but as soon as you get off onto any side streets, there would be gridlock.
I see no way around creating some major infrastructure changes for it to work.

meh..Legault will petition to move the provincial borders and add Ottawa to Quebec.
They should be running the country anyways...why not have the Nation's Capital under Quebec control as well.

Gatineau is a dump. It's no better than Kanata other than maybe a bit closer.

Melnyk should just sell the team to Quebec City and move on with his life

???
It is further from downtown Ottawa to Kanata than Gatineau, by a large margin.

It used to be called Hull, just wanted to point out that part of it still is.

not even close to true. I try to practice my French every time we go over the bridge and I am always answered back in English.
I live on the east side of ottawa and it's 45 minutes for me to get to Kanata in moderate traffic, and that's all highway.

Gatineau is way closer than Kanata. I lived in Ottawa for over a year.

Google maps has the arena 25 minutes from parliament hill but I say no way. It’s more like 45-50 minutes.
The other option would be somewhere near the football stadium I guess.

Well this is hilariously unnecessary while being wildly incorrect.
Yes it’s a suburb of Ottawa, but it’s twice the distance from downtown as Gatineau is.

More reason to spend time in and around Kelowna in the summer vs than reasons to support the Sens...

The current city of Gatineau resulted from the amalgamation of five separate towns - Hull, Gatineau, Aylmer, Buckingham, and Masson-Angers. Even though Hull was the largest and most central of these, they retained the Gatineau name because of Gatineau Park.
On-topic - the rumoured parcel of land that Melnyk may be looking at is immediately across the Chaudière bridge from the LeBreton Flats. I think he’s trying to get his arena near his preferred location without having to deal with the LeBreton developers.

My mailing address says Calgary. However, I live 11 KM outside the City limits, in Springbank, part of Rockyview County. Don’t ask me why.
Also, the arena is only “in Ottawa” because Kanata amalgamated in 2001. Originally it was a different town. It’s Midnapore.

There is farmland between Ottawa and Kanata. The majority of people in Metro Ottawa live closer to Gatineau, by far.
