			https://www.tsn.ca/bill-daly-says-nh...rday-1.1637534
"NHL Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly says the Stanley Cup Playoffs might start this coming weekend before the end of the regular season in the North Division.

The three American-based divisions will have their regular seasons all wrapped up by Thursday with Daly saying opening round playoff series in those divisions could start as early as Saturday. The North Division schedule wraps up with thee games between the Vancouver Canucks and Calgary Flames from May 16-19."

The American divisions will be done the regular season so Bill Daly says the playoffs could start this Saturday for those 3 divisions.

I'll be sitting this one out, though the pure joy is that any of the Canadian teams are going to get their fricken teeth kicked out by the actual elite teams down south.

 But gag, puke, nope,

Not sure this is the best way to go.
They're going to have to wait anyway, may as well give everyone but Calgary/Vancouver a quick break and then run them simultaneously instead of finishing one division and then waiting for the Canadian division to catchup.

I get your point but I guess if they start the US divisions early and if the North series' were to end up four or five game series in both rounds, there's a slim possibility the North catches up.

Can’t they start the North playoffs too?
Why bother waiting for the Van Cgy games to be done?

For that matter, why bother even playing them? Set draft priority by pt % and put them out of their misery

Oh, I guess Mtl and Wpg are still close enough for seeding to matter.

They should be able to start early next week either way

Flames will still be playing and a team will be down 3-0

Translation: Canadian division will have a more compressed playoff schedule than the 3 US divisions. Also a very real possibility that whichever US team plays the North winner will be nice and extra rested.
Stupid divisions, compressed schedules, no fans, multiple team-quarantines, bogus playoffs... The fact that this season is actually going to be officially recorded into NHL history makes me want to puke.

Edit: OK, puke might be too strong of a term. I don't actually care that much. Maybe let's just say I think it sucks.

Correction: The Flames, who will still be playing, and a team will both be down 3-0.

I cant decide for me if the season just sucked, of it was just because the Flames sucked. I have been enjoying baseball if you wanna get excited about Vladdy.

That’s good though. Less likely a North team wins then.

The way this season is scheduled and the obstacles it has faced (postponements and bubble schedule only) makes this season just like last years playoffs not really count in my mind since it deviates too far from the normal structure of a season. Not playing every team and the imbalance of schedules due to outbreaks invalidates this season once again. It's completely uncharted territory. And then of course the lack of fans.

The only reason it happened was to fulfill TV obligations and get money from that since in venue revenue was pretty much nonexistent for all teams.

Next season should be the one that returns more to normal and as such, will be valid in my mind.

They really should cancel the Canucks-Flames games.
