Correct.
Can’t see anyone taking 4 straight against anyone else in this division. Unless it’s the flames playing ottawa.

I'm not hopeful but I'm hanging in there until the "e" appears beside their name in the standings. :/

Worrying about the Canucks is pointless Flames will need to beat them to get enough points anyway
|
You're aware that the Flames can sweep the nucks and as of today, and then if both teams won every other game, the teams would go into a tie-breaker situation (which if my math is correct, goes to the flames)?
This means the flames /nucks are neck and neck, and can still in very likely situation where the flames sweep them but the nucks get the playoff spot.
So to say worrying about the Canucks is pointless, is the same as saying worrying about the habs is pointless, in which case, why have a thread at all?

I'd be surprised if anything changes. Vancouver has 14 games left and is 10 back of Montreal and Calgary has 8 games left and is 6 back of Montreal.
Montreal should get the 4th spot and play Toronto in round 1. The health of Carey Price (and Brendan Gallagher) is huge. If Price can be healthy and play he has the ability to steal a series. I still think Toronto would win the series but Price is good enough for an upset.

Because looking at the Canucks schedule and the way they are playing they are going to lose the majority of their games IMO. They are getting outplayed every game and have a ridiculous amount of games over a short period. I never said the Flames path is likely either. Stay within 8 of Montreal and sweep the Canucks is the only way. (Insert Loyd Christmas)

I wasn't knocking Calgary (or Vancouver). I was focusing on Montreal and if Price can come back for the playoffs, he is a game changer. Allen/Primeau aren't at his level. Toronto would still be favored but he can steal games.

What does this have to do with magic numbers? That's playoff matchups talk

Didn’t realize dino7c is the thread police.
I think your time would be better spent watching for off topic Bennett talk.

I get the sarcasm with the cop joke and your response, but reading over your comments here - are you always this grumpy? You are acting like you were personally attacked over.... I can't figure out what?

I know I'm off-topic but I appreciate where Dino is coming from, I hate going into a thread and having to scroll through so much off topic nonsense that it's frustrating...between that and the extreme negativity, I end up avoiding the forum for days.

Updated with 8 game left.
Flames magic number (cgy losses habs wins) 6
Habs magic number (cgy wins habs losses) 11
Canucks magic number (cgy wins vcr losses) 11
6-2 might catch the habs. Doubt they will go more than .500 with their schedule.

Updated with 7 games left:
Flames magic number (habs wins flames losses) 6
Habs magic number (flames wins habs losses) 10
Canucks magic number (flames win canucks losses) 9
Thinking need at least 5-2 and cross your fingers.

The Canucks already look like they have absolutely nothing in the tank...give yourselves a chance going into those last four

The Habs have 8 games left. If they win 6, they are in.
If they go 5-3, the Flames have to go 7-0
If they go 4-4, the Flames have to go 6-1
If they go 3-5, the Flames have to go 5-2
Realistically, they should be able to go at least 3-5, and I think that is all we can hope for. If so, 5-2 is definitely within reach.

Fingers crossed for no OTL points to the Habs, they’ve already had enough of them.

Flames were in a horrible 1-8 slump prior to their current 6-3 run. The Habs are 4-9 in their last 13 so I do wonder if they will be able to get hot enough to go at least .500 down the stretch.
The Flames have such an uphill climb but if they get in they will be on a heater and will be a lot more battle ready than the Leafs who are waiting a week reading about how they are guaranteed to win the first round.
