We close out the season against the Canucks with 4 straight games on the 13th, 16th, 18th, and 19th.
That could be neat. Could be in a situation where we knock Montreal out of a playoff spot with those games. Montreal's season ends on the 11th.

Sooo, that kind of screws the Flames to take advantage of a rusty Vancouver team. They should be conditioned and a tougher out by the time we play them now..

They are probably hoping both teams are out of it so they can start the playoffs before that

Another three day break after the Ottawa game on Monday = another chance for Sutter to level this team up again in practice right before the last Montreal games.

I bet they're hoping the games don't matter and they can either cancel them or just let the rest of the Division start their playoffs while the Flames and Canucks play for draft positioning.

Hopefully the Games mean something to the Flames. Could you imagine if they have to get 5 pts out of those games to try and knock out the Habs. Would be a playoff type atmosphere.

now have three days practice (April 20-22) before 3 Montreal games; Sutter likes his practice dayssame for May 2-4, May 6-8 and May 10-12; schedule is now much more spread out - 13 games over 34 days

for comparison, Habs have 16 games in 26 days
Vancouver has 19 games in 31 days

Interesting. That could actually turn out to be a 4 game type play-in series for the last playoff spot.

That might be a heavy load if they were actually able to move on into the playoffs. Won't complain of course, but I assume they would need to start the playoffs on the 21st in those circumstances.

O.K. there has been a lot of talk on whether or not MacTavish has actually done a good job for us, most fans on this board are very basic in their analysis and I feel would change their opinion entirely if the team was successful.

Yes and no. Coming off of COVID they wont be back to full health so catching them at the end of the season will be against a very fatigued/out of shape squad. They also are playing something stupid like 19 games in 30 days, so fatigued from a busy schedule AND from COVID recovery.

Between Montreal and Vancouver both going through and being the two teams we face the most down the stretch we have a legit shot at making the playoffs

So Calgary only gets two games in 11 days prior to facing the Canucks for a four game series to end the year which will potentially decide our season?
 I don't like that..

Since the beginning of the pandemic has Calgary had the fewest actual Covid-related problems out of every team in the league?

We haven't had a single case I believe? I don't think any of Winnipeg, Calgary, or Toronto had any cases, right?

for the Jets, Poolman and Ehlers have been in covid protocolfor the Leafs, Robertson and Nylander have been in covid protocol

The Flames had to keep a separate training camp group of 6-8 players due to potential exposure, but no positive test. I believe both Dube and Tkachuk have tested positive before the play-in playoffs last season

Meh. They play the Oilers on 1 May, and then get a three-day break, Winnipeg on the 5th, followed by another three-day break, and then Ottawa on the 9th followed by a three-day break before ending the season with the four-game set v. Vancouver. I guess two games in 11 days sounds bad, but four games with three-day breaks between all of them appears fine to me.

They should be exhausted and resigned. Regardless this Flames team is a much better team on paper, if they are turning the corner with Sutter at the helm this should be a bunch of points.
