Absolutely correct, but also entirely different players.

I really don't know how anyone is able to confidently predict a player's future progression. Rasmus has been a big disappointment this year, I don't know how else to spin it. IMO it's entirely still unknown at this point whether he lives up to his contract or exceeds it.

As it relates to Brodie, I really think many of us are now seeing just how important he was to this team and unfortunately losing him for nothing has hurt. I was hoping Valimaki could grow into that role but not happening yet.

Have a look at Gio at age 24. Have a look at the other D from Andersson’s draft - there’s only 6 to play more games, and only 5 more have more points. He’s going to be good value at that contract IMO. He already is making a pretty standard wage for his level of production.

Valimaki has been the most disappointing defenseman to me, I know he’s coming off a big time injury. But you can’t tell me Rasmus has been worse than Jusso. I think he will bounce back but he doesn’t look at all like he looked before the injury.

Again - age and experience. 22 is incredibly young for a D. Gio played a half year at that age. Check out other 22 year old D in the league. He’s not Makar or Heiskenan. Other than that there’s maybe 3 guys with more points and they almost all got into the league a year ahead of him because of the injury.

Ryan with retention should bring back a third and maybe a 7th for Simon.

Laine has looked bad. I think Monahan is a fair swap at this point. if they trade him this quick they get poor value for sure.

That is the type of retool trade the Flames would love to make as they get a player 5 years younger and the same age and Tkachuk. Not sure Laine fits with Sutter though and he is pouty so not sure it would be a fit. I do think the Flames jump at the deal.

I think Sutter would like his size and slightly better wheels. And his big RH shot. He’d hate his work within, but is it way off of Gaudreau’s?

He’s an RFA at the end if this year, but with arb rights. Treliving likes RFAs but not ones with arb methinks.
