I expect Calgary to end up with Eichel. Tkachuk and Gaudreau and a High 1st. Problem is Eichel will be joined by Skinner. Its just how they roll upstairs in Calgary.

Fire the coach? I didn't tune into the guaranteed disaster that is a GT, so am I missing an inside joke?
Darryl Sutter, as much as I suspect he doesn't want to do it, is the perfect man to be on the front lines going forward into a major change.

I think that Flames overpay with Tkachuk and Lindholm to get Eichel. Too easy to be outbid if you don't go in strong.

Monahan on pace for under 10 goals in a regular 82 game season.
Lindholm 12... what happened to this guy? Started the year great now looks like 4th liner. Tkachuk has 10 goals this season. Backlund 7. Monahan’s 171st in the NHL.
Pretty clear what this teams issue is.

Scoring Winger

I don’t get all the Markstrom hate. Yeah, he hasn’t been the same since coming back from injury, and maybe he shouldn’t have returned. But would you be killing yourself in front of this sad sack team?
He’s still a top 10-12 goalie in this league. If Tre put the word out that he was available, the phones would be ringing off the hook. The Leafs would likely hand over Nylander ++ in a package for Markstrom. He’s likely the most valuable trade asset the organization has, but they’d be foolhardy to even consider it.
Ah, what am I thinking anyways?
It’s time to trust the process. This team is close, no matter what the results say. We were in on 31 deals this summer, but all that was really needed is some minor tweaks for depth. This team is better than their record.
Did I get Tre’s opening press conference remarks on October 1, 2021 right?

I’m not sure that’s an overpay, with Tkachuk’s contract requirements. Lindholm has a good contract but he’s not a game changer.

At least the Flames accounted for Covid related delays and mailed it in a good couple weeks early this year.

The team's issue is that they don't have the will to get Monahan whichever surgery he requires until the end of the season. He shouldn't be out there if he can't play at 100%. The days of learning after the year is done, that Monahan was playing with a broken ankle/wrist/tibia should be done and buried.

Eichel is likely out for the entirety of the regular season. Now is the perfect time to trade for him.

They won't go full rebuild this off season.

It’s also why nobody will trade for him anything beyond a 3rd if he can’t help you in playoffs and scores 7 goals a year. Huge problem.

[QUOTE=drewtastic;7813297]...?)
Ultimately, here's the thing: I'm not sure that wholesale changes in the offseason are what the team really needs. Even though this season was brutal, there are still a lot of really good parts here...I really hope they don't go crazy at the trade deadline (maybe try to offload some of the UFAs?) and take their time in the offseason to pinpoint exactly where the need lies...
/QUOTE]
How has this team this season, or any season in the last 6 shown you they’re deserving of getting another shot without wholesale changes? I’m honestly blown away to think there are still people that think they deserve another shot. Even in the season they won the West, the cowered in playoffs.
