good question... not exactly sure... i think him clearing waivers helps Philly's cap, but not if you trade for him?
I posted as I saw his name mentioned earlier in a trade proposal and was surprised how far from grace he's fallen from his heyday...

Victor Hedman just limped off the ice in the Tampa/Blue Jackets game
If he's out for a while that could also be a landing spot for Giordano

Something interesting from LA Kings insider John Hoven (Mayors Manor):
https://twitter.com/user/status/1377003771486642178
The article is about the Kings looking for an offensive minded D-man. Although the bulk of the article focuses on Travis Sanhiem, there was a bit about Hanifin:
Quote:
How about Noah Hanifin? Now, if Calgary was ever serious about listening to offers, consider the Kings one of the teams very interested in putting together a compelling offer for Flames GM Brad Treliving to consider. The 24-year-old blueliner fills just about every box for the Kings.
|
LA has the highest rated prospect pool in the league. Guys like Alex Turcotte (C), Arthur Kaliyev (RW/LW) and Gabe Vilardi (C) would make for a great return on Hanifin.

Seems like a wishlist for the Kings. Why would the Flyers trade Sanheim when they need D?

I think we should trade Hanifin because he is the best player that we can get a value. If we can get 1st and + , and some kind dark horse prospect from LA it would be perfect. Sutter should have someone in their prospect or younger player who may perfect here.
I can't see Hanifin is 1st pairing D. So trade him for high price and trade Monahan good enough 2nd pairing cheaper D. And use all 1st rounder and a prospect for 1st line C potencial younger player.
I'm just dreaming here.

Why would we trade Hanifin just as he is coming into his own ? This team is not rebuilding ( as painful as it might be). Get rid of Gio long before Hanifin.

This is how you end up Buffalo bad. Hanifin has taken a step this year, is still young, and signed on a bargain contract. You keep players like that.

Every time he slumps they speculate he is injured. So either he is really injury prone or his game is falling off a cliff. Either way if we can get a decent return for Monahan we should jump.

If anything else, you keep him for two more years then move him. His value is already high.
I was of the opinion that this team should utilize his trade value for a RW, but this isn’t the team for a one player add like that. I’d way rather keep Hanifin long term at this point.

Monny has been slumping for a long time. If he’s not injured, he’s in big trouble. His injuries would likely be chronic.

If he is that injured, shut him down and ltir him. He’s not helping the team now. The season is close to a write off, use the ltir cap to take on some expiring bad deals for picks and prospects and move forward to next season.

Just my opinion, Hanifin was bad last year because of Harmonic, and he looks good because of Tanev. For me he is OK 2nd or Good 3rd pairing D.
And I'm not trading him not just for make trade. I want high return. If the return is not good then keep him.

^^A third pairing D? That’s absurd, but if it were so then he certainly would not bring in much of a return.

If we're trading Hanifin to the kings, Gabe Vilardi would be an incredible pick-up. Right-shooting C, 6'3"201lbs, 21yo, 15pts in 33 games. He'll be a good one, needs a little work on his skating, and defensive game.
Turcotte and Kaliyev would be good too, but Turcotte is a smallish C, and Kaliyev has skating issues, but he has a great shot, and incredible goal-scoring prowess.

100%. 3 even strength goals this season. Remove him from the lineup right now and it’s a negligible difference with how he’s performing.
I have my suspicions that it’s injury that is hampering him, though.

If we're trading Hanifin we're trading a bunch of other guys too.
That butchers the short term blue line.
I am enticed by the return though. I'd like to find a way to bring in some highly touted center and right shooting prospects here. Let's raise a new crop that's 5-6 years younger and gear up to make noise when we start in the new building.

Everyone on the team should be made available for a trade, everyone. Time to start collecting futures, trading Hanifin would suck but if it's for a good return that helps the future, so be it. Its not like this is a contender trading their best player.
Its kinda like the whole mystery box thing, "it could be anything, even a boat". "The Flames would suck without (pick any player on the roster), they'd be 7 points up on 30th place and only 1 point up on Ottawa for last place in the division while Ottawa has a game at hand!"
The Flames are crap right now, realistically adding or subtracting any player isn't changing that.
