Not arguing the etymology, but the bolded is bull####. When you hear something so outlandish that immediately sounds like bull####, it normally is bull####, and this is bull####.

Soy actually acts as an estrogen-blocker and is recommended for anyone who is at risk of or has had breast cancer, which estrogen levels directly impact.

Not arguing that. As much as it can lead to breast cancer.. It's all just myths. From what I understand, male rats were not able to impregnate female rats, when given high' levels of soy. That's where this stems from.

After hearing the definition it immediately sounded like something some desperate try-hard incel off 4chan made up, and such enough, it started on 4chan.

You can probably do better than to try and mock and guy for “acting like a female,” right? Surely your own masculinity isn’t that fragile.

Call him fake-woke or whatever, but I don’t think derogatory words suggesting femininity fly around here. And I think most adults are above that.

I don't think there is anything particularly feminine about what he said though? He said he was bland and plain. It's like calling someone milquetoast. And frankly, that's exactly what Rintoul is. He's not particularly remarkable, and now you add an Oilers fan to that for 4 hours a day.

The choices being made at that station these days are perplexing. I feel like it's an incredibly difficult job, so I don't want to take a run at the on-air people. You could have the most insightful and knowledgeable broadcaster there and some people would hate them. But from a pure programming perspective, it's tough to see how they can manage to screw things up. They have no competition in a city that supports athletics at basically every level and across a range of different sports. Yet, here we are with a guy from Vancouver and an Oilers fan about to take the lions share of the workday. It's hilariously inept.

Soy boy is a pejorative term often used in online communities to describe men lacking masculine characteristics. The term bears many similarities and has been compared to the slang terms #### and low-T ('low testosterone'), two other terms popularly used as an insult for male femininity by online communities

The term is often used as an epithet by internet trolls. It is often targeted at perceived social justice warriors, vegans, and similar groups with males who display "feminine" traits and values.
I’m not defending Rintoul, I just think we can probably be grown ups and use some better words. This board doesn’t have much in the way of 4chan-level losers, and it’s probably good to keep it that way.

Come on, man, it's really not this serious. Singling out off-hand comments that people make on a message board is petty. Hit the report button if you see something you think is out of line.

Speaking for myself only, it's kind of tiresome to visit threads only to see them derailed by people feigning disgust over every little perceived transgression.

Rintoul has actually grown on me and I didn't mind his outgoing show but he is soft and I don't care for left the wing preaching as I prefer my sports personalities to stick to sports and leave that other stuff for CBC.

Thanks for creating an interpretation that I did not intend or have ever heard of. I know what I meant. Just post a list of words we are not allowed to use to make it easier for us regular people.

I don't mind Rintoul - what I hate are the cheesy over produced segments with witty names and blaringly loud montages, along with his need to coin new phrases that he perceives to be super original and awesome...so why not use them all the time and tell us why he came up with them each time. (eg: Upper and Lower Canada)

If it was serious I would’ve reported it.

No shame in calling out a bit of casual nonsense when you see it. Is that any different than what you think you’re doing with this post? Not really, right? Does your post set the thread back on track, or just add to the detail? The latter, yeah? What tires you may not be what what tires me, and vice versa. Thankfully we can both post about it.

Dude, you said “what Johnny said”... did you read the post? I don’t have to quote it back to you.

It’s no big deal, just don’t act dumbfounded about it. You’re a regular person with a brain.

OK, you caught me - I did not read it in detail, just skimmed it. Well, I meant what I said I meant - the rest is unintended. Certainly don't think he is feminine, just mostly... uninteresting.

All good! I didn’t take that as your style anyway. That’s why I asked what you meant in the first place, agreeing with the Johnny copy/paste just threw me off.

Apologies for making the leap.

We can all go back to hating on Rintoul, who I don’t know, but by the sounds of it will find even worse than regular 960 programming.

I am not a fan of the fact that almost half my work day now has a show based in Vancouver that we have to listen to if we want Flames coverage. How long until Tim and Frienda completely replaces the Big Show?

960 will just be the morning show and Steinberg for Flames games and a drive home show

They have talked Flames more than any other team so far this morning. Maybe I’m different but I can only handle so much talking heads discussing the same Flames themes over and over in a day.

Rintoul is ok, guy is just pretty bland, so not sure I'd be able stomach his show for 4 hours. But then again, I hardly listen to anything after 10am anyways. They should have Krahner on there to balance out the blandness, and the pro Oiler talk.

I never get 8-10 hours of uninterrupted time to listen. The main reason I listen is for Flames discussion. I am a NFL fan so like when they have insiders on from that sport but I couldn’t care less what Nault, Steinberg, Boomer, Pinder etc have to say about the NFL.

Everyone has different reasons for listening but for me it is 100% Flames. I think we are entering that slippery slope where this station moves from a local one to more of a National one.

Yep Flames content is the one and only reason I stream 960. The less there is of that, the less I'm listening.
