Too bad about Yates. Hopefully he can fully recover!
Sounds promising about Pearson!

So wait Robbie Ray fell down the stairs carrying his daughter and is now injured for an undetermined amount of time with a bruised elbow? What the hell is going on down in Dunedin?!

Ugh so disappointed with the Yates news. I was really looking forward to seeing if he could stay healthy and regain some form.
Lame.

Spring training isn't even over yet and the Jays have:
1. Lost their closer for the season
2. Lost their new prized UFA signing Springer for an undetermined amount of time to an oblique strain (this is not good news folks, this can linger and re-aggravate repeatedly)
3. Merryweather still hasn't pitched
4. Hatch has missed time
5. Pearson has pitched once and won't be ready for season start
6. Robby Ray apparently fell down some stairs
What did I miss?
Ridiculous.

It is quite bananas. I find baseball tends to have the weirdest excuses for freak injuries. It's almost like the teams' PR groups put out the weirdest excuses for injuries. How does one injure their elbow so badly from a fall down stairs? Can't wait until next off-season where someone gets blisters from juggling.

Reminds me of 2015 spring training when Stroman tore his ACL fielding a bunt, Pillar strained his oblique from a sneeze and Saunders tripped on a sprinkler and tore his meniscus.
That year turned out ok though

People injure themselves all the time by falling down the stairs. Why do you think that's strange?

I guess the combination of timing, a grown man seriously injuring himself (wouldn’t he have better reaction time)? A lot of assumptions really.

Thornton had another good outing today, that's a real positive.
The Yates injury sucks, but I'm not as worried about the pen. It seems like the Jays have an absolute #### ton of decent arms for the bullpen that they can shuttle back and forth all year.
Pearson already dicking around on the injured list with a nagging type injury, and Ray hurting is elbow are big concerns though. Those are the two "wild card" guys for the rotation. They have elite stuff and the ability to make the Jays rotation a juggernaut if healthy and performing. Without them healthy and performing it becomes a mess very quickly.

I fell down my basement stairs 3 June's ago slipping on the carpet stairs and grabbed the railing and destroyed my shoulder. (I was 36)
Besides the normal shoulder damager my hand would go completely numb every now and then for months after and during rehab
A year of tests later they discovered i had also wrecked the nerve that goes from the neck into the arm
It was a 2 year recovery.
I use to think the same thing - How can a grown athlete seriously hurt himself falling down the stairs - Until I did it.
Stairs are the devil

Manoah's line today:
2 IP
0 Hits
0 Walks
0 Runs
4 K's
27 pitches, 17 strikes
If he lights up the minors he's going to get a lot sooner than a September call up.

That Vladdy shot. There are no words. The only other player that can hit a rope like that is Stanton.
Scrappy comeback game by the preseason Jays.
6 days to go!
