I am pretty sure I could get a hit off of Roark today.

Nice play by Panik, he is a great guy to have off the bench.

I'm confused, Roark was pulled in the first inning, now he's back. I thought you couldn't do that in baseball?

Preseason they can do players can get in innings without risking injuries. There is also the new mercy rule as well where I think they can just cut an inning short.

It's spring training, there really isn't any rules, it's just about getting guys reps and get their pitch count up. Once the regular season starts it will go back to normal.

I really hope Pearson is back soon. Not only because he needs reps to develop, and not just to push guys like Roark and Stripling down the rotation, but to split Ray and Matz up in the rotation.

Right now it's looking like the first three starters are going to be lefties, also Ray and Matz have a similar style. It would be good to split those two up so that teams don't get too comfortable against them.

I hate that every pitcher uses a little something to get a better grip on the baseball. Looking at Cole's hat it's pretty obvious that he is using something today. That being said I am pretty sure I saw A.J Cole go into his glove for a little pine tar as well.

The Toronto Blue Jays announced right-hander Kirby Yates has been diagnosed with a flexor strain in his right arm and is expected to miss multiple weeks, according to the Toronto Star's Laura Armstrong.

The Blue Jays are continuing to gather information about his injury.

Guys like Romano, Dolis, Chatwood...and maybe even Manoah (wishful thinking I know), could step into high leverage relief roles pretty quickly.

It was a very low risk high reward move by the Jays to acquire Yates, plus it's likely only a 4-6 week recovery, could still come back for a majority of the season.

If the Jays could stop playing like ass when these games are televised that would be great.

So I get the feeling that Buck and Tabby are going to be the PBP team while the team is in Dunedin/Buffalo to start the season? And then Schulman will join when they get back to Toronto? Anyone have more info about this? My rudimentary google search came up with nothing...

Schulman put out a Twitter thread on this and it starts with this tweet:

https://twitter.com/DShulman_ESPN/st...79490056982529

Basically Buck and Pat do home games in TD Park in Dunedin. Away games will be Dan in a Toronto studio with Buck/Pat at home in Florida looking at broadcast images.

Pretty much confirms that Rogers is just being cheap about no radio team and are hiding behind the pandemic as an excuse. Why can't two guys just call the game in Toronto studio (or at home) with the same feed Dan will be using?

I tried listening to the "radio" broadcast last night and one inning was an interview with the Stripling after he came out of the game. Buck and Pat pretty much said zero about what was happening in the game, so I just missed out on that half inning. What a joke. Confirms that I'll just listen to the away broadcast if they aren't even going to put in effort for the radio listeners.

Per TSN, Atkins says Yates most likely headed for Tommy John surgery. Says that it was a high risk/high reward signing when they signed him.
