I guess this is one way to fix an election - kill your opponent!!
The mysterious illness of Ukrainian opposition leader and presidential candidate Viktor Yushchenko was caused by dioxin poisoning that was likely intentional, doctors said Saturday.
"There is no doubt about the fact that Mr. Yushchenko's disease has been caused by a case of poisoning by dioxin," said Dr. Michael Zimpfer, director of Vienna's private Rudolfinerhaus clinic.
Zimpfer said Yushchenko's blood and tissue registered concentrations of dioxin 1,000 times above normal levels.

Yikes, it looks like he'll have permanent scaring for the rest of his life.
Mind you, its hardly a detractor from his influence in that country. People follow him for his resolve and not superficial reasons, such as appearance.

Yeesh, dioxin is one of the most toxic substances know to man.... I'd hate to know what that's done to his lifespan....

That Yanukovych is one evil SOB.
I would not count out Putin's involvement either.

I was looking into this grim business and from what I gather I think what he has is called "chloracne" and it could actually clear up in a couple years.

You have to wonder with the skin being an organ if his internal organs were affected too though.

Just saw a story on the CBC (boooo hissss booo) and they said his liver function is looking good. Didn't mention any other organs and it seemed to be that the liver was the one to worry about. Face thing could "take years" to clear up.

I'm sitting here dumbfounded. Is this for real? Poisoning a political opponent?
Is this the Austro-Hungarian Empire circa 1700s??
Yikes, Ukrainians play for keeps (not to mention Russians). Goes to show the cold war attitudes have not fallen away under the ruse of democracy.

It's sickening that crap like this actually happens in a country like the Ukraine.

It's so important that Yushchenko wins the election. If Yanukovych wins, you might as well write off Ukraine as another "Belarus". One with nukes.

Quite the game of "Russian Roulette" if you ask me.

Lame.
Please clarify how Ukraine's election is like putting a single bullet into a revolver, spinning the cylinder and passing it back & forth between two people so they can alternate putting the gun to their heads and pulling the trigger.

That is just nasty and I can't believe that his opponent is the one that did this talk about wanting to win badly.

From what I hear, one is as corrupt as the other.
