Mathew Philips is worth the price of admission. I don’t care how small he is

Outscored 12-2 in the first two games of the season, the Heat have outscored their opponents 21-5 in the four games since.

5-1 final.

Phillips stole the show. Should have had a hat trick but settled for three assists, instead. We'll be hearing from him shortly.

2+1 for Ruzicka. Three helpers for Petrovic. Mackey with his first pro goal and picked up an assist.

One of Johnny’s best line mates was Jiri Hudler. I honestly think that Bubba could be a sneaky great fit on that line as a right shot. I know it would be two midgets on one line but the worst thing now is that other teams collapse on Johnny since there isn’t another threat on his line. Hudler was a puck wizard and made it so that teams couldn’t just crowd Johnny. I think Bubba could provide that dynamic on that line plus he is an absolute puck hound on puck retrieval’s despite his size. Risky but I think it could be dynamite.

I'm such a Phillips fan. IDC if he's short or slight. He's a gamer, I'll always remember the first time I saw him at dev camp and he busted out a wicked onetimer from the left dot. Something no one on this team had at the time, and currently only Lindholm has.

But I’m told Phillips is too small and there is no place for him on the Flames roster.

How does Mackey look?

By all accounts he was supposedly going to be an NHL player, and sooner rather than later. Is he just waiting for a spot to open up, or does he need a lot of work still?

We have the worst 4th line in the league. I am definitely curious to see Phillips audition there for a few games (especially now that Ryan is back).

He looks good. Solid. I think he'd be a good NHLer on the Flames' third pair right now but there are a lot of guys ahead of him. When/if Nesterov walks, that could be his spot.

Someone really needs to give Phillips a chance. He was passed over the world Juniors most likely because of his size. The kid was never bitter about it. Just handled it like a pro.

I hope he doesn't get passed over for the NHL because of his size. It's amazing how he uses his hockey IQ. Kid has every tool you want despite his size. I'll probably get lambasted for saying this but I personally think he has a higher ceiling than Dube.

Hey Scorp, is Phillip's looking like a right winger in pro hockey. He was a hell of a centre for the royals. Just curious if his size limits him in pro as it didn't in the Dub. He is great at taking faceoffs

I really like Phillips, liked him even in juniors.

It's going to be hard to fit him in the lineup when you have Gaudreau, Mangiapane, Dube and Ryan in the lineup, unless you get the rest of the lineup real big.

I think we could see a 4th line next year of Pospisil-Ruzicka-Phillips as all the current 4th liners will be gone.

You have to think that Darryl has his eye on Pospisil and Ruzicka, especially Ruzicka, a big 6'5" highly skilled centreman. I think Pospisil and Phillips ETA is probably next season, but Ruzicka could get to the NHL this year.

I love it! The only Royal I have seen play a lot that is looking like a legit prospect for my team.

Kills me that Lowry plays for the Jets, but I hope he comes to the flames as a ufa
