haha I'm struggling to focus on work today. I woke up and checked the score, surprised we scored 7. Then I wondered why the #### I saw all the Darryl mentions on my Twitter TL and it took a while before I realized what was happening and this was real lol.

I think Ward was okay as an assistant but well over his head as a HC. No hard feelings from me, but this needed to happen. Excited to see what Darryl can do with this group.

@PierreVLeBrun

Darryl Sutter isn’t just taking over for the rest of the season in Calgary. He signed a three-year deal, this season plus two more.
Is it April already?

I fall asleep just before the 3rd period and wake up to a Flames win and a new coach?

If I wasn't at work, I'd think I was dreaming.

Well this was quite the news to wake up to. Won’t be falling back asleep now lol.

And I guess this means I can break my self-imposed CP posting quarantine... thanks Darryl!

Once the shock wears off, I think I’ll really like this hire again. As a motivator Sutter speaks for himself. I’m actually shocked Treliving got permission to do this. I have little concern at all, aside from I don’t know if Sutter can adjust to the new NHL speed game. I’m sure he can but I’m curious to see what that will look like, and what it’ll mean for the team brand of players brought in. Will we see the classic grind it out type player brought in or will Sutter be able to handle the reality of highly skilled fast players? I guess we’ll see this off-season. For now it seems like one of the best potential hires possible. Really interesting.

I feel bad for Ward. He is a good guy, and getting fired is always tough. Honestly hope he bounces back in the NHL, and has more success with his career for years to come.

This is the coach I have wanted more than any other since Hartley was terminated.

Now I feel like we are about to find out if it is the coach, or if it is the core. Let's see how this season (and hopefully playoffs!) play out.

I am damn excited!
Flames will be auditioning for their jobs the rest of the season.

Wow. What strange timing, after a good win, after the team was off for 3 full days ( really thought they'd time a change to maximize days off so coach could get some practice time in).

Regardless, I am very happy. This team is not a cup contender, but almost to a man, every player seemed to be playing their absolute worst this season. I realize that there's likely a lot of factors to that, but a rookie coach was definitely one of those contributing factors.

I love Daryl sutter. He almost single handedly changed the complete trajectory of the franchise. I think he's a really smart hockey mind and am glad he's back with the org.

Go flames go!!!

There are always people who harp in hindsight yay or nay, so it would be nice to get a poll up to see if this was a good hire vs. bringing in another coaching face. I personally believe this will be good but I want to see what a poll to archive and bring up two years down the road, says.

I love it. I love it! I think Kylington is going to absolutely thrive. He seems extremely coachable and will learn a ton.

Pretty sure the problem was not Brad asking ownership if he could hire Darryl and being told no and now finally being told yes. The guy Sutter works best with is Lombardi and he is also unemployed, a fact I am sure Brad is aware of. This decision was almost certainly an ownership directed move.
