I'd bet on it, especially if the UCP has a chance to influence Council decisions with a majority stacking. Look for who the well-funded conservative PACs in the coming months are funding or at least aligning their messages with in each Ward and I think you can get a picture. I doubt any candidate are going to openly say they are a sycophant of Jason Kenney.

Also, thought this was funny too, Gondek would be who I vote for if I still lived in town:

I'm wondering if Brent Alexander will come out and take another crack at Ward 7 now? He had 37.51% of the vote in 2017, behind Druh's 41.03%.

PBR died like a decade ago when they dropped the ABV by 1%. Increase my taxes? Whatever. Decrease my drunkenness from PBR? It's on.

It's not really Kenney. It's Manning. It was Manning who recruited Kenney. He was hand picked by Preston to run for office early in his career. Just like Farkas was a member of the Manning Foundation until he ran for council.

And of course the Manning Centre/Foundation have received millions from home builders. So expect a lot of candidates with Manning or home-builder ties in my opinion.

This would imply that Calgary is actually under control of the latte sipping crowd. As a member of said faction, I wish that were the case, but Calgary is still very much a predominantly low-density, unwalkable, suburban, car-centric, Yop-gobbling city.

6 wards already, plus 4 more and the mayor for which the incumbent has not yet announced. And certainly a couple of those remaining 5 positions are not expected to run.

There could be 2/3 turnover on council.

Sure, but most regular folks would make the Kenney association.

Pretty sure he moved to Toronto.

I'm no fan of Farkas, Chu or slate candidates in general but very glad to see the back of Farrell. Fingers crossed for Gondek.

I still don't understand the hate for Druh. She has done more for this city trying to bring some life to the core outside of downtown businesses. Her work has made Calgary a lot better in my opinion. She's been a model of considerate representation (for example I know from my wife she refuses to be lobbied in the way that most councilors do - everything is above board). She's a million times better than the trash of Chu, Farkas and Magliocca.
She's done so much for her ward and the city as a whole.

And contrary to what Rick Bell and other Calgary Sun columnists would have you believe, she is by far the biggest fiscal conservative on council. If Calgary actually adopted her vision for the city (increased density, less sprawl, improved walkability, more mixed-use neighbourhoods, greater access to public transportation, less dependency on private automobiles), it would save city taxpayers hundreds of millions -- if not billions -- over the long term.

The people who hate her are the right wingers who are secretly in love with her.

She has been a great alderman for Calgary.

Eff I hope not.

Sad to see Druh retire, that's a huge loss for the area and for the city as a whole. Would be doubly worse to replace such a strong voice with a turd in a suit like Brent Alexander.

Well that's your opinion and it doesn't change the fact that I'm an extremely happy person today. This is great news for the city IMO.

Care to elaborate on why you don't like her?

What specifically has she done/not done, that make you happy she's gone?
