Default NATO chief rejects claim Canada bears Afghan burden

NATO chief rejects claim Canada bears Afghan burden

http://www.cbc.ca/world/story/2007/0...da-070223.html

Quote: [Jaap de Hoop Scheffer addressed the idea that Canada is taking on an unfair share of the burden to rebuild war-ravaged Afghanistan.
"I think [that's] the wrong impression. I don't share that assessment," he told reporters. "As we have seen, unfortunately, recently in other areas of the country, there is also danger."]

I love how the CBC tries to defend this swashbag by bringing up Spanish and UK forces. Hello, these countries are actually doing something, I notice they didnt mention France or Germany or the recent comment by both the German and French ministers that any new troops will not be placed in "combat situations"

This really grinds my gears.

Some bs dywar "drop your weapon and run" EU General is trying to tell us that the French and German and other troops who wont commit soldiers to actual combat (these are soldiers btw) are facing just as much danger as some canuck from CFB wherever who has to do these 90 day away from base camp missions (anyone see the FNC interview with canucks last weekend) where all they have is rations.

What a joke. Some bs EU general from a country which if I am not mistaken did NOTHING in WW2 except get steamrolled over by Germany is attempting to justify the classic Euro stance.

Give me a break. Get a General who isnt a complete waste of skin in there so that we can smoke these fu*%ers out and get the heck out of that hole.

IMO, if things dont change over there. I would go to GWB and Blair and tell em that we are sorry, but we can no longer be apart of the EU controlled hand-job-fest that is the mission in Afghanistan. I would timetable exit from Afghanistan this October.

I would even go one farther: Withdraw from NATO altogether, and tell Europe not to bother calling if they should ever need help.

We can't, however, simply pull out of Afghanistan, even if the Euros are cowards.

Okay, I know the CBC is controlled by Satan himself, but how exactly were they trying to defend the guy? They reported what he said. Should they have ignored him?

And the CBC didn't "bring up" Spain, he did. I don't see how mentioning that the UK is sending a thousand more troops is a defense of anyone or, as you seem to see it, a slight to the Canadian troops. Both France and Germany were mentioned specifically in the article and you don't have to be a cryptologist to figure out what the message was, and it wasn't flattering.

I have to agree with rouge...disagree or agree with the general or whoever he is, fine. but the article itself? I don't get it....
