I still don’t get Leivo on the second unit. Let’s put in the guy who can’t even consistently play in our team. The alternative as per Ward probably was Froese though, I guess.

I have to believe it doesn't sit well with the players to see Bennett get benched for the 3rd period for Froese. Also, it probably doesn't sit well to see Nordstrom get 4 on 4 time, and Dube gets benched for a mistake, while players like Leivo, Simon, Froese, and Nordstrom get rewarded after their mistakes.

I also don't see the reason to dress Mackey if you are going to bench him, why not dress Nesterov?

You know things are bad when the Oilers look like a defensive powerhouse.

I’m surprised how bad the Flames offence has been. 21st in the league in GF/g and 6th in the North Division. No creativity or ability to sustain any offensive pressure.

Flames are losing ground fast. Changes are needed, but I doubt anything happens until the off season.

No, I think they should do both those things. I’m just not expecting a huge bump from either because the coaching change alone won’t do that much and I think that one or two forwards changed wouldn’t make a difference (considering the return that would be received).

I was hoping that the Flames would show some sign of life after being embarrassed against the Canucks. Instead they come out and get outshot badly to start the game and give up a goal.

Then they play the game with zero passion and the Oilers are content to let them. That was an awful awful awful game to watch, made worse by a regional Flames broadcast that talked incessantly about the Oilers for 55 of the 60 minutes. By the end of this game I was as close as I can get to just not bothering to watch games for a while.


We can blame Ward, we can blame Tre, and they deserve it, but I want to add that we have a leadership group that's not leading MT and Gio were just as lifeless through most of this game. I used to think that Matt was a future captain, but he's not looking like that at all, he looks like he doesn't care.

If you can't get up for a game against a team that's as leaky defensively as the Oilers, then what the hell are you putting your skates on for.

Calgary Flames hockey has gone from something I looked forward to, to a chore, to a whatever burger.


I know I've avoided Flames threads and post game threads because frankly they're not enjoyable and bitter, and all of that. But tonight I want to jump into that whole cesspool of bitterness, well I would if I could get up the energy, but like the Flames, excetpt for Dube and AM and Johnny and the goalies, I just really don't care.
