Maybe they're trying to get their depth some reps so that they have 8 guys practiced and ready to play in case of injury.

Lots of games in a short period of time. Guys are going to need rest and others need game time

Chucky's been awful so far this year, have to wonder if that concussion he got in the summer was bad enough to keep him from doing any training this offseason.
His skating is awful.
