I was at the gf house watching that period but I am debating going home and putting the game on for the frog.

If he doesn’t get taken off the power play for that then it’s just completely incongruent messaging from this coaching staff

They benched Dube because the ref blew a call

I think Looch retires after this season if not earlier than that. Like mid season if he really starts to lag. Hate to see guys decline that fast but it's getting pretty evident now. Also helps with Bennetts opportunity issue swapping him and loocj on PP2

Yup. Not much he can do on the 1st as that's a bad breakdown on the PP.

He was set for Forbort's shot, then slid away from the net as Forbort took the shot back farside...

As mentioned, he basically left his net to chase the puck going wide on the deflection goal. It was a great tip, but that's some rough positioning by Rittich.

Yeah its not blatently on Rittich but re-watching yhose goals....he has to stop one of the two that werent deflected.
Looch though....can just settle in for about 3 minutes a period, Just way to much of a liability to get any more. Terrible decisions made by a an uber slow player is a recipe for disaster.

That first goal was definitely a bad turnover by Lucic, but also that Jet got in the middle of all 5 guys and not a single person picked him up. That’s some “this guy scored” Oilers level defence right there.

Exactly.

Cant blame him for the first goal but he needs to save at least one of the next two and got caught guessing/chasing instead of being patient on both of them.

Oh theres some positives that period, really liked Tanevs game again, Dube and Eat Bread are looking sharp. Johnny and Monny were good, Tkachuk looks off again. He had one shift where a poor pass back to Nesterov almost squeaked out of the O zone, only for Tkachuk to get the puck back and pass it well out of the reach of the defenseman.

I have a tough time saying they played well while letting in 3 goals however.

Posters can keep saying this but very few players walk away from millions.

Correct. Once the tip happened, there was no chance of a save because he was covering 0% of the net.

Positioning matters.

He literally said he was going to retire until the Flames dealt for him. He's made enough money, people are allowed to walk away from money if they're not good at their job anymore or lost passion for their work.

Maybe Ward's plan is to way overplay him, crush his spirit and force him to retire. That's the only possible explanation for Lucic not having a single repercuasion for his boneheaded plays or penalties.

Hopefully Rittich can get going or otherwise every game he starts will be hard to win.
Did Hanifin and Tanev get scored on 5v5?
