It's possible that he might be a toxic bigot who's also a locker room cancer and crazy conspiracist but hoping he ends up in Edmonton makes us no better than him. No one deserves that.

It will be interesting to see if any specific wording was put into his last Contract. In the NFL when Antonio Brown was acting out, the Raiders had put some language in his contract and went thru a series of fines and other disciplinary actions before ultimately terminating the contract leaving the player wondering why he wasn't getting his guaranteed money now. This could become more common going forward now that anything and everything these players do tends to end up on the Internet in one way forever.
Still seeing someone lose everything is not always the best. In the NFL a lot of guys do pretty bad things, but they get the chance to change and have a second chance if they're make enough of an effort to do so, particularly when the talent is there to play the game. So if a guy like DeAngelo can change and he's worthy of being in the league he should not be banned forever. But if he thinks he should be able to get back in without some sort of changes to his behavior than he will become a really bitter old man.

I'd be surprised if the NHLPA allowed a team to mess with the SPC that way.

I'm conflicted. Terminate his contract, and he loses millions. Don't terminate, and the Rangers on the hook for the cap hit. Is there a way to have both?

Jeff Gorton says "yes," Tony DeAngelo has played his last game with the New York Rangers. #NYR

Gorton says DeAngelo had been upset since being scratched for first game. At some point, Gorton told DeAngelo if there was one more issue, he'd be removed from the team. That happened after Saturday's skirmish with Georgiev.

 Frank Seravalli @frank_seravalli
Gorton says DeAngelo "wasn't able to move on" from being healthy scratch for gms 2+3 of season after unsportsmanlike penalty. "I told him if his name came up in anything at all that he would be on waivers ...

"I felt like I had to stay true to my word, the organization's word."

 Elliotte Friedman @FriedgeHNIC
President John Davidson said DeAngelo's social media comments were not a factor.

I wonder if the Rangers would take on a bad contract for a trade with him, aka Lucic.
Or I could see someone taking a flyer on him if they retain half his salary. If it doesn’t work out he can be bought out for one third his contract before he turns 26.

I would much rather have Lucic than that clown DeAngelo. Not even a contest.

I would seriously seriously drop being a Flames fan if they acquired this guy.

I dont think ppl understand how toxic this guy is.

Deangelo is straight garbage. He has been traded multiple times already and if he wasn’t such a trash human he would have been picked top 10 in his draft year as he is extremely talented.
You don’t want a guy like that on your team. He is KHL bound

A desperate team may pick him up, but with the Flames' own issues with various characters over the years, I'm 99% confident they aren't picking him up. Too high a chance his character will blow up in their face and people like this don't change over night.

No thanks Lucic is a lot of things, but he's not a toxic asset, ADA is some one you don't want in your organization period, even if he was a guy that was a good player, but he plays like he doesn't care and he's just a lousy human being.

Even at 50% you don't want to add that idiot element to your locker room.

The only way I would do it would be ADA at 50% for Lucic and a 1st (to compensate us for paying him to sit at home).

No, gross, pass.

I’m reading between the lines here... but that is a veeeerrrrrrryyyyy short leash. Seemingly specific to that individual for other reasons.

“Couldn’t move on from being scratched”? So, he was mad? That was enough to throw $9mil away? Not to mention, we’ve seen fights between teammates lots of times before.

Friedman doing the usual and helping our their buddies in a PR stunt. The Rangers always accountable...right?
