So what's more important, a pitcher with a low ERA or one that gets a lot of SOs?

I think there are still a few guys/gals who haven't signed in. Still have about a month until the draft.

Personally I would take a SO pitcher. I find that the ERAs to be fairly even from week to week.

Well..that's a tough one. they would be weighted the same. To win that stat category, you have to have more SO's than your opponent, or a lower ERA than your opponent. But since SO's are so rare, usually 1 is enough to win.

So I guess I would prefer a SO to a low ERA, but the two things go hand-in-hand so you can't draft a SO pitcher without also getting a low ERA pitcher.

Second question: Is there any reason not to draft Albert Pujols first overall?

Nope.

Although both years the team that drafted Pujols didn't even make the playoffs.

In my view its not the first selection that will win the league but its the bottom 5 selections.

Some GMs can find really quality players really late in the draft...those are the GMs that will do really well.

Trades can be a big part of this league too. Last year I made a trade that singlehandedly won me the whole thing.

My team had tons of power, but no average or speed. So I sent Richie Sexson away for Chase Utley. Chase Utley went on to have a huge year in every category. Its good to have balance. So having the 1st overall pick is somewhat bad, because of the snake draft order. if you draft 18th..you're almost better off.

Ironically, the team that finished 2nd...made that trade as well.....
