Ive never understood the "######bag" vibes. He seems like a confident kid, but has there ever been a goal scorer on his level who wasn't ridiculously confident? It's like a chicken and the egg argument, you almost need to be overconfident in your shooting prowess to develop goal scoring talent like that.
I also think he's been subjected to more ridiculous media angles than any other player his age. Weekly or monthly "scandals" about how he plays video games, meanwhile other players are snorting rails in the bathrooms of earls and trying to take home the lounge wench without the microscope...
TBH I would also take a ####ty tone with the media too. I thought his answer was textbook. He's here to play, help his team, and be the best player, what more do you want??

It always bothered me that Dougie was a problem because he'd rather go to a museum than the strippers to get his drunk on. I don't mind how the trade ended up, but generally running a guy out because he's not a partier/too polite/weird is just the wrong direction.
I have no problem with Laine.

That always struck me as baffling because it’s not like we have some amazing established winning culture.
We also then went out and signed the King of all ######bags in James Neal, so whatever culture they were aiming for...tough to understand what it could be.

What you believe John Shannon? I call BS on the whole Museum vs Moxies.
Don’t forget Dougie needed his baggage handler brother on the team. You hear about how close this Flames team is now and Dougie wasn’t part of that. The guy was a great player but easy to get frustrated with and I am still very happy with the deal that worked out to be a win-win for both.
Main reason I wanted Dougie gone though is what Carolina is going to have to do to keep him and that is give up a 8-10M per deal on a long term. I am glad the Flames do not need to deal with that pending contract this season/offseason

I didn’t understand that as “not a partier” so much as “he’s a loner”. The museum was just an example (and I don’t think strip club was ever mentioned). I think the sense was he was an odd and awkward guy.
I suppose that’s not a great reason, but chemistry is a thing.

Hamilton himself said that none of that garbage was true...he doesn't even like museums (his words)
He also wasn't "run out of town"
Calgary made a hockey trade a won it IMO...especially considering the contract Hamilton has coming up

I listened to Shannon, and people took that WAY too literally. He was clear with his museum example that he was stating museum just as an example rather than Dougie liking museums. The whole point was that Dougie often went and did his own thing rather than join the rest of his teammates, that was all.

You guys are taking my comment on museums and strippers way too literally. Literally too literally. Just gisting it. Go for the gist.

That plus would need to start with Valimaki and end with Pelletier.

I can’t think of another Finn that I felt that way about. Teemu Selanne, Saku Koivu, as just a few examples-all seem very nice and classy. I really think it’s all just Laine’s attitude IMO.

Rumor: Dubois to Western Canadian team
Quote:
The Calgary Flames have been long rumored to want to shake up their core. The Calgary Sun's Eric Francis mentioned many times last season that if the Flames made a move it would be Johnny Gaudreau that would be the odd man out in Calgary. Gaudreau is also signed until the end of next season with a cap hit of $6.75 million. The contract lengths of Dubois and Gaudreau expire at the same time. Having Dubois in Calgary would allow the Flames to move Elias Lindholm back to his natural wing position.
