Zegras is laying waste to this tournament. He will be a player for Anaheim.

Zary was good every time he was on the ice last game IMO. Even Button said they were Canada's best line in the 2nd intermission.
No shame in being the odd man out for a game on team Canada but I dont really agree with the decision here. Zary dominates down low and in front of the net...when we get past the shinny games he will be needed IMO.

Oilers could have had him at #8 but picked Broberg instead, shame.

Was him being benched and now demoted to being the 13th forward strictly a result of his play, or are some players just killing it more than he is?

I would hate to think it is attitude related or something, but getting benched during a blowout win against a weak opponent does raise some alarms. If he was in a slump and needed to find a spark, that is the kind of game that you could afford to play him in.

From what I’ve seen, he does a great job at cycling the puck down low, and he’s made some smart decisions when moving the puck out of the zone with short passes.

It seems like the players he may be competing with around that 13th player role have found the score sheet, so it wouldn’t hurt if he can find the back of the net today or be part of a line that has an impactful game.

Regardless, it’s a hell of a feat to have even made this team this year, as they are pretty stacked.

Zegras was the guy I wanted. Not unhappy Podkolzin fell though.

Is that because Schneider is back from his suspension though?

Yeah, just making it says a lot. There were some pretty good players not picked and I think Canada has 6 or 7 players returning from last year, which made it that much harder for newer players.

It sounds like his keeping it simple style is something that might come up big in games against top teams like Russia, Finland, Sweden and USA when the little things start to become more important.

It's hard to say, since I think all 13 forwards have seen icetime.

Yeah, he had a couple of excellent hits to create turnovers there. He is also really strong on the puck.

Every game I wait for Byfield to be noticeable out there. For such a high draft pick I even forget he's on the team most of the time. And yes, I know he's young. Just expected more.

I turned it on right after the goal. My bad, I guess he's done something positive today.

I said it all along, Stutzle will be the better pick and deserved to go #2
Byfield is big but nothing about his game screams game changer to me, last year he got away with being “young” but this year he needed to show more and hasn’t done so thus far. Pucks die on his stick, he looks clumsy with the puck, I’m not a fan of anything and sad to see him taking time over Zary when at least Zary has been effective with and without the puck.

I’d like to see more time for Pelletier he’s been just all over the ice but stuck setting up Byfield.... he could do so much more with a Merced/Tomisino combo.
