I'm going to go ahead and say that a store whose entire business model is based on selling to people who have the wherewithal to make stupid meaningless political gestures with their shopping habits should try a lot hard to avoid these controversies.

Unpopular opinion apparently, but I'm actually okay with a blanket, consistent policy of "wear your uniform and nothing else".

Because of this, and a host of other issues, you would be hard-pressed to find any currently serving military personnel who view the Legion in a positive light. However, the same military personnel are quick to get the torches and pitchforks out and lose their minds over Whole Foods.

Many people have their own views of Remembrance. Many (like me) like to keep those views personal. Some may wish not to wear a poppy. If you wear a poppy, great. If you don't, that's fine, too. I wear the poppy on my uniform because I have to, but I usually don't wear it with civ clothing. Why? Well, that's personal and I'm really not interested in getting in some internet argument over it.

First, thank you for your service.

Huh. Now you got me thinking. If currently serving people don't like it, does that make it bad to wear it? Not asking for your why but am curious if you look down on civilians who wear it in a genuine attempt to show respect, minimal as the gesture may be. I realize there are a lot of other and more meaningful things people can do but realistically are unlikely to actually do. Does wearing a poppy make it worse?

There are always exceptions (religious, disability, etc), the poppy should be one of them

They had already backed down by post 7 of this thread, lol. This is such a stupid song and dance corporations go through (including the Calgary Flames with their "we won't pay our part time staff who live paycheck to paycheck in these unprecedented times, while our players and management get paid like normal....oh wait that was the wrong call, okay we'll pay them and now still have to take the brunt of not paying them from the onset) and this is just the latest example.

Just be smarter. You're huge cooperations with millions invested in marketing and public relations. Just take one ****ing day in a boardroom and go "wow, this will cost us a lot of goodwill if we make this calculated, spreadsheet decision that we have to back down from a day later, instead let's get ahead of it".

No. I mean currently serving members don't like the Legion. The vast, vast majority regard the poppy favourably and truly appreciate it when civilians wear the poppy. I assume many service members look down on people who choose not to wear a poppy, but I am not one of them.
