I’m pretty much thinking the same. Never thought they would trade mony to begin with. We need center depth and you are not trading mony and getting a better 1st line center back.
I did think they would trade Johnny but only if they could have gotten Hall. I can safely say Buffalo would have no interest in another high priced Lw.

Boston and Calgary were among the others who badly wanted Anderson. If it had been the Flames, I think we're talking about a pretty big deal.

Feels like Treliving is poised to make a big deal...that's not always a recipe for getting the good end of a trade.
Also sounds like Anderson was steadfast on one of two things - either a 1 year deal taking him to UFA or a 7 year max...so sounds like he wasn't giving the teams much room for negotiation.

Woulda been fine adding Anderson if it didn't involve an insane contract like that. the guy I wanted from that deal though was Domi
Target Gallagher now instead

If the Flames had landed Josh Anderson, it would have been a pretty big deal (trade wise).
Flames had some conversations with Shattenkirk
Vancouver, Calgary, and Edmonton are considering moving their AHL teams to Canada for the 20/21 season. Not sure if it will be out of respective NHL buildings or a centralized location.

i think buffalo has 2 problems now that hall is in the fold
1. they are suddenly competitive and don't have a goalie
2. too many arb eligible RFAs (2/3 of their top line last year)+ new top line configuration
Olofsson, Ulmark to CGY
Rittich Mangiapane to BUF
Olofsson is an arb RFA who is displaced on the eichel line by hall. 2 RFAs out the door lets buffalo focus on Reinhart, gets them legit goaltending.
CGY gets a LH LW/RW who broke out last year and a goalie who can be signed for less than rittich
Gaudreau - Monahan - Lindholm
Tkachuk - Backlund - Olofsson
or
Gaudreau - Monahan - Tkachuk
Olofsson - Backlund - Lindholm
BRING ON THE SWEDES!

that's a lot of assets and salary for a guy who wouldn't even be the best andresson on the flames.

So what was Brad Treliving offering for Josh Anderson, Sam Bennett & 2020 3rd as well?

It really seems like Tre is still trying very hard to move at least one of Monahan or Gaudreau. Still little plumes of smoke coming out.

Also kind of Calgary related:
Edmonton really believed they were getting Markstrom and were stung when it didn't happen.

There is no guarantee that Calgary would have signed Anderson to a similar contract as Montreal did. I mean I at least hope that wasn't the plan.

Would be so much sweeter if the AHL team was in Calgary. I guess I never understood the financials of having it elsewhere.

No, it is likely Gaudreau or Monahan and likely also included one of Columbus' goalie - that's what I think he's alluding to.
Sam Bennett + 3rd is hardly a huge deal.
I'm really happy it didn't happen, because to me Anderson would have been another Hamonic. A player that Tree simply fell in love with and would have overpaid to both acquire and sign.

Based on what? Fan speculation? Except for that and the ramblings of Francis I have not seen any indication the Flames are looking to move either guy this offseason. I have seen much more smoke from the organization itself they don't plan on moving those guys.

I always thought it made sense to have the Flames-Oilers farm teams in Saskatoon-Regina.

What is your problem lol
We get it. You don't think the Flames will trade either guy. However, last time I checked, you aren't Treliving or anyone else from the front office. So in other words, you don't know anything for sure.
You don't need to post the same thing over and over again when people bring up potential trades in the speculation thread.
