Valentines Day
Hmmm, never been a big fan of this day,
Mostly because it's expensive, busy, and holds no real meaning.
Regardless thought I'd see what people are doing or have done that is neat.
I sent some flowers to one person, we'll see if that gets anywhere.
Spent the weekend out of town with someone, nothing exciting, but that was my effort for in that department.
And finally with respects to my "hitting on women" thread, I might do something small and silly for comic value there.

My valentines tradition is to go to the flower shop and buy a dozen red roses. After that I head to one of the big malls and hand them out to the unsuspecting ladies at the food court.
Most times I get a shocked look with a red blush and a big thank you.

Awwwww.... That's so sweet. You ever get a date that way? That's a good idea, and single women everywhere thank you for your consideration!

Never got a date that way. Some woman tried to hit me with her purse a few years ago as she thought I was stalking her. The rest of the food court was in stitches over that

What if you give them to someone who's already in a relationship?

Lol!
I actually had a non Valentines day situation where I had (A large Gerbera Daisy or long stem rose, I forget which) and was waiting to meet a girl for a date, we hadn't known each other long. After some time, it was apparent I got stood up. So instead of letting it ruin my day I took a walk and gave it to a random girl along the way. Was able to share coffee with her and get her phone number. Nothing worked out long term wth us but we ended up being friends for some time, and it sure made being stood up feel a lot better.
As for Valentines Day, I'm not a huge fan. Not because I'm not romantic, I think that I am and have some great stories to back it up, but I'm one of those people who doesn't feel you should have a day set aside for it, rather it should be when you feel you want to. I alos really like surprises and giving surprises. It's hard to surprise a person on a set day.
All of that said, I still spend it with my girl doing something nice and we both usually have a lot of fun. It's not a chore by any means.

Thats cool.
I am not doing anything other than staying home and cooking a nice meal. Way to expensive to do anything.

Kind of in the same boat, don't like the hallmark holiday but I play along. Instead of going out I'll just cook my wife a meal and give her some flowers and relax. Rather stay at home comfortable then out with masses in a crowdly restaurant.

Well, the out of town visit was a small effort and an x.. Not sure what the point, but ah well..
The flowers is one that kind of petered off, I'd like it to go somewhere, it may, it may not, very complicated.
The "other thread" one is a long long term project, I'd rank it as same level as the flowers one.. But anything valentines related there would just be for very short term entertainment to keep me in the "this guy's interesting" department while she's still with "boyfriend"...

My intention is not to get any dates per say, but rather to brighten the lives of the opposite sex. I usually give them out to ladies who are sitting alone. I simply say happy valentines day as I hand the rose to her. They see the other roses in my hand and realise what i'm doing. It's the last rose I hand out that sometimes gets me into trouble like the woman trying to hit me with her purse.
If they blush and say thank you then my mission is accomplished.

I dont like V Day too much as it is a day for the corporate world make some big bucks. Ive known my husband for 4 years and we usually just go out for dinner, but dont go to anywhere too fancy cuz on V Day, they have set menus and set prices and it ends up being like 75 a person and that's just crazy! So either we dont go to a fancy schmancy restaurant and go to a smaller place (like a hole in the wall sushi restuarant) or else wait til the next day or the weekend after to celebrate V Day. And he usually gets me a flower (changes every year).
We do usually get each other presents....., but the presents are things that we were prolly going to buy anyways.....this year, I got him a mini pack of tickets to the SF Giants (Im an Oakland fan, but he prefers the Giants) and he got me tix to the Oilers/SJ game in March

That's pretty cool!
It's amazing the interesting ways we get to meet the opposite sex.

I was walking down the street and I saw a guy walk up to a girl who was obviously his girlfriend/wife and give her some roses. Her response?
"Oh.. they are so pretty. You didn't have to do that!"
I wanted to tap her on the shoulder and tell that, yes in fact he did have to do that. One look at the guy's face told me he was thinking the exact same thing.

I know a guy and he is so cheap......(how cheap is he?). He is so cheap that he breaks up with his girlfriend on the 12th or 13th and then makes up with her on the 15th or 16th so that he does not have to get her anything. And just like clockwork he did it again yesterday.
As for myself I bought my wife a necklace and am sending her flowers to her work as she likes the attention that she gets when they get delivered.
I also got my doughters a new toy and some chocolate hearts.

That is so cheese. Tell the truth-are you only doing this to women with low-cut tops so you can check out the goods?
It's St. Valentine's Day, and as men, we gotta do what we gotta do to keep the peace. I have been a conscientious objector for years, but all the common sense in the world doesn't replace gifts for women. Tonight I'm taking my girlfriend for dinner, and I also I got her those ridiculous candle holders that broads like.
No man looks forward to this day.
