I'm worried about how much it will take to sign Pietrangelo.
I would rather sign a couple of decent guys on the cheap. Guys like Tanev, Stetcher, etc. There are lots of them available this year.

Anaheim, Toronto & St. Louis are already over the cap. Arizona is under by about 130k, Washington by 575k, Vegas by 1.5m, Winnipeg by 2.475

Giordano has two (?) years left on his deal where it might be tight, but when that contract expires, we can resign decent guys on the cheap with the expiring cap space there. Right now, we need a #1 defenseman, we need a top pairing RHD too. Pietrangelo makes too much sense.

0....if we truly feel we need that kind player, then re-sign Gus and get a decent shutdown guy (Tanev or Vaatanen) for the top 4. I have never liked Barries game and it showed worse when he wasnt sheltered in Toronto. If we are going to get a defenseman that we need to shelter...then get Gus because you already know he make the PP click and likely for much less..

BOS GM Don Sweeney delayed his media availability today. We will see what’s up, because Bruins did not make an offer to Krug and indicated that it’s previous offer (6x$6.6) was no longer on the table. Bruins must have something else going on.

Calgary has just under $11M to re-sign Mangiapane and Kylington, and fill an additional 6 roster spots beyond that. Once they signed Markstrom, facilitating a trade became the next priority.
I think that they get their depth RD through trade (because they need one who can actually play defense, and not an offensive specialist), and then look at adding one more forward through free agency.
