good luck to TJ in Toronto. I liked him and hope he does well, but man will he get roasted even worse when he makes a mistake now.

He was a beast defensively. He was a beast on zone transitions. IIRC, he was also a beast on shot suppression, no?
This is going to be a giant hole to fill. Yes, you want change in your lineup when the lineup under-performs, but Brodie has been fantastic in every single playoff series in Calgary.
I am really curious what Treliving has planned. Not being critical of Treliving here - I don't know who he has been talking to about replacing Brodie with, but man, that's a big hole to fill. Toronto I think just made one of the best signings - 4 years of Brodie for 5 million? That's an awesome deal for them. No 'expected years of decline' at all in that deal. I am so curious to know what Treliving has on the burner right now.

All signed on the first day by other teams. I'm a little surprised so many of our UFAs got picked up so quickly.

There used to be a time when you would look around the league and not see any former CGY players (except like Adam Cracknell) in other organizations. CGY also had to trade for guys just to fill out their own NHL lineup.
Night and day difference now.

I think Jankowski is going to have to show a lot more, otherwise I could see him becoming another Glencross situation.

Have we watched the same player for the last 5 plus years? Dont let a marginal "lift" in a once in a lifetime playoff format fool you.
Yes he was good against the Jets but that doesnt erase my eyes burning for most of his contract.
Id rather have Tanev in a heartbeat.

A trade option would be potentially David Savard who is reportedly on the market.

Good for Brodie. Leafs fans will turn on him before next season is finished though I think.
I wouldn't mind Barrie to QB the PP for a season.

I feel sorry for Brodie in Toronto. The media is going to be relentless with his semi-frequent gaffes.

I was a big fan of Crown Royals "Brodie Deal"
Over 7 years giving him an average of about 3.8 mill
I feel like as we've heard, he wanted to go to toronto and probably why he was involved in the Kadri deal in the first place.
Best of luck Brodie

Id just take Gus back if that was the choice, all things being equal. Never been a Barrie guy.

I would be quite interested in that.
As for Brodie, I'm going to miss him. Good player, excellent person, very happy for him in that he gets to play close to family for a team he probably always wanted to play for (not that he didn't want to in Calgary).
Best of luck, TJ. You're a beaut!

Well, I also happen to think Hanifin kind of sucks and we shouldn't be worried about losing him.
I also have very little confidence in Treliving making the right choices when it comes to defense.

Poor asset management on the flames part.
Realize they tried and it was Kadri that blocked the potential trade but at the end of the day the Flames didn't get out of the 1st round and lost Brodie for nothing.

I see Vatanen as more of a second pairing guy. I really like his game but not in a shutdown role like Brodie can play.
