No ones mentioning that Markstrom might outplay his contract. If you watched the Vegas/Vancouver series you know this is a quality goaltender that bailed his team out on numerous occasions. Excited to have him.

Will be nice not to cringe every time a shot chest high makes it through to our goalie and assume it will be a goal

So, I guess Jermaine Franklin is still TSN's Calgary reporter even though he's now in Toronto.

Well, the Flames finally have a #1G locked up. It's been a long time coming.
Hopefully he is just hitting his stride and will provide the Flames with the type of goaltending he's given the Canucks the last few seasons. IMO he was a top 5 goalie in the league playing behind a bottom 5 team in the league.

On paper it's an upgrade, let's hope it translates onto the ice.

Well they got a number one goalie capable of carrying the mail for 60 games a year. Hopefully it is the Markstrom of the past 2 years for at least 4 of the 6 years.

Question is if it is valid for entire contract or changes over time.
Also first NMC given out by Treliving

 Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie
 now
As expected, Jacob Markstrom gets a NMC in his deal with CGY, which protects him from being exposed in the Seattle expansion draft.

I mean, there is always concern about drop-off but I wouldn't worry too much until it actually starts to happen.

As I said, could he regress? Yeah, but even if he does I don't see it being that bad.

Home run, especially factoring in what it does to a division rival.

This is the big thing.

The team and management can't panic if he's not amazing in year one. They need to work with him, find the right goalie coach for him (if Sigalet doesn't work out), and work to make this work long term.

As I said before for better or worse he is our goalie for the next 4 seasons now and there will likely be some ups and downs.

Ryan Dittrick @ryandittrickJust spoke with Jacob Markstrom. He is fired. Up. Says he's happy with the progression of his game over the past few years, but is far from satisfied:

"I want to become better, I want to be more competitive, I want to go deeper into the playoffs & feel the Saddledome bumping."
