Best goalie in the NHL last season...take your numbers, turn them sideways, and stick them up your candy ass. Markstrom was playing behind a rebuilding team
I'm biased as I see more Markstom than other teams living in Vancouver, but I completely agree.
I don't think some fans realize just how good he is. Top 3 in the league most likely, top 5 for sure. We haven't had a goalie even close to this level since Kipper.

How is the term "perfect"? I would rather not pay a 34, 35, 36, and then 37 (technically 36.9) year old goalie 6 million dollars.
"Perfect" maybe not. But anything less and you don't get the deal done. I think it's worth it to get 3-4 years of good goaltending for this core before it's too late
So Markstrom - Rittich tandem? Absolutely need 2 goalies to win games to get into playoffs and beyond (look at Khudobin).
I don't put as much stock in the 'true #1 goalie' line of thinking. I want good play out of the position - good consistent play out of the position, no drop off when other goalie comes in.

But he wasn't.
GMs, traditional statistics, advanced statistics, nothing had Markstrom as the best goalie in the league last season.
He was top 5 for sure, I'll give you that.
But him being the best goalie is your opinion and is in no way a fact.

Honestly, if Markstrom played out east and got viewed more, he's probably 2nd/3rd in Vezina votes last year.
Top5 goalie in the leauge

I just don't really care about one shortened season.
It's simply not enough to work off of in terms of a long term contract.
I think and hope that Markstrom may very well have another great season.
But age and term are what I hate. It'll probably be good for two years, and then turn into an albatross.
