That's also what I'm wondering, specifically from the New Jersey Devils who hold the 7th, 18th and 20th overall picks in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft. They have all kinds of Cap space, both have been connected, so this is a real possibility.

For me personally, it’d take the 7th, 18th, 20th and a blue chip prospect. Even then I’d be nervous.

7th, 18th, 20th, Smith.

Sign Hall, Pietrangelo, Markstrom.

Perfection.

...it’d be wild for an off-season to play out that. Pure fantasy.

Has any team ever picked four times in the first round?

Avalanche, when they drafted Tanguay, Skoula, Regehr, and Parker.

I would do it just for the fun I'd have on draft day.

If the Flames somehow managed to pull that off they could probably add Rossi, Zary, Bourque, and Perreault to the fold.

The down side is that you risk running into cap issues if all those guys are up for contracts at the same time.

I guess not the worst problem to have because it assumes that they all pan out to be great players and assets that can be flipped.

It’s better than ending up with Poirier, Shinkaruk, Klimchuk, Lazar, and Rychel.
