2. The plan is to bring in OEL and then move on from Gio while hopefully recouping some futures in the process. Tkachuk gets the C.
Hall - Bennett - Lindholm
Gaudreau - Monahan - Tkachuk
Mangiapane - Backlund - Dube
Lucic - Gawdin - Rieder
Hanifin - Andersson
OEL - Demelo
Valimaki - Kylington
Kuemper
Rittich
That probably doesn't work cap wise, but something along those lines with retained salary and maybe moving on from one or two of those guys if needed. Not saying that's what I want to see, but I could see Treliving thinking that way given his past experience with OEL.

Yeesh, really putting a lot of eggs in that Bennett basket as well. Lot of finger crossing and blind optimism involved in some of these line ups.

I mean you can organize them however you want, it’s the same group of centers we had this season save for the 4th line. Swap Bennett and Backlund if you want. Swapping Ryan and Bennett isn’t blind optimism, it’s what they did in the playoffs. For 3 million I think it’s very unlikely Ryan is here next season to center the 4th line.
Odds are Bennett centers the third line next year, but I would love to see him get an extended opportunity with two offensive wingers.
I don’t even agree with Gio-OEL swap. Just the only way I see this rumor being realistic.

To borrow from baseball - I want to see guys with off the chart tools rather than off the chart makeup. That doesn't mean bad character just find athletes that can demonstrably show you skills -even high IQ gets a little nebulous but nothing close to good in the room qualities.
I want some more Dionysians to go with Apollonians !

If Dube was to have another great camp, wouldn't be shocked to see him get a promotion.
Basically swapping Bennett and Dube if Dube plays like he did in the playoffs

I would only do it if they take the Lucic contract.

I dunno...
Lucic
Ryan
Rittich
19th overall
for
OEL
Keumper
Hall's rights
Then have a deal already worked out where you deal Gio or Hanifin for another teams 1st round pick maybe?
They can't go without 1st and 2nd round picks in this draft.

instead of a crazy, giant deal like that, just go after the good asset - Kuemper - with a simpler deal

I don't know why ditching short term cap pain is worth it to acquire long term cap pain. I mean OEL is still a good player, but that contract is literally up there with Subban, Doughty and Karlsson in terms of cap hit and length, without the same production. I wouldn't be in a hurry to acquire any of those guys at those numbers.

Stop it! Treliving may be reading this thread.
He is clearly Niklas Lidstrom #2

Gio would need to be on the move if we get OEL, just too much money and Hanifin is too young to trade for what he is already and could develop towards imo.
Problem is I don't think Gio gets you a first, maybe a 2nd/3rd
If we trade away a first to get Kuepmper, then we'd better be trading Johnny or Mony for a higher first++

Keumper would be a good target, but please no first rounder!

lol, Treliving LOVES defensmen. If OEL is on the block you can bet he is going to be trying to acquire him.
Add in the fact that you know the Flames want Hall, and also the runors that they are sniffing around Keumper too, if a trade goes down with Arizona this off season it's probably going to be a pretty big trade with lots of moving parts.

The fact that the poster who is most keen about the rumour is the Yotes fan, should tell people all they need to know

So what I have learnt from this thread about OEL is he is worth somewhere between retained salary for Lucic up to a first round pick.
I think the reason he is on the block is because the Yotes are looking to shed actual salary dollars. Any chance Lucic just gets a big bonus and his actual dollars going forward aren't much?

Yes actually, Lucic at this point is owed 10 million for the remaining 3 seasons after the flames just paid out his bonus for this season.
That is less than the 10.5 OEL will be owed in the 21-22 season.
A trade where just lucic and OEL change teams saves the coyotes 3 million dollars in actual cash for this coming season.

They're already paying those 14 million. Plus another 43.75 million if they don't move him.
