The Canucks aren't even good...they were about to miss the playoffs with Markstrom injured and covid saved them. Blues had AHL goal tending and Markstrom stole the series (no shame, he's part of the team the Flames should send him an offer...worst case drive the price up)

There are only two instances that I would ever cheer for the Canucks to win any game;
-If the Canucks winning that game helps the Flames in any way.
-If the Canucks winning hinders the Oilers in any way.
-If the Canucks are playing the Oilers.
If that criteria is not met I will never, ever, ever cheer for the Canucks to win a hockey game. They don't meet that criteria in this series so go Knights!

That's an overly simplified way of looking at things, there are many ways a sports team can be profitable (such as leverage against a city). League revenues are also shared in a lot of different ways, so there is a lot of incentive for owners to pressure themselves and each other to prioritize the overall financial health of the league. How many owners can really be relied upon to always prioritize the integrity of the sport over their own wealth?

I think believing there is some conspiracy to make certain teams win is overly simplified.
Opening up any chance of a league detonating lawsuit isn’t worth the risk. How much money is a Sidney Crosby worth to a franchise?

I cheer for my hometown teams. While I live in Lethbridge, and have for over 30 years, I was still born in Calgary and I have a place in my heart for the city. Therefore I'm a Flames fan. I also love Vegas. I love to go there more than any other place. Therefore I also have a soft spot in my heart for their team. It also helps that I was in town when they were in the middle of their impressive playoff run in their first season. If the Flames aren't playing I'll cheer for VGK. Flames aren't playing so, it's Knight time!

Well said. And that's just it.
Their respective fanbases and clownshow media personalities tend to help with that.

I generally cheer for good and entertaining hockey if the Flames aren't playing. Thankfully, the Oilers will never be good or entertaining so I have nothing to worry about there.

Go Canucks. I dislike Vegas more than any other NHL team except Edmonton.

Yeah Walsh tweeted it out before Game 1 and caused a ####storm.
Fleury came out and was very vague about his involvement, but ultimately asked Walsh to take it down.
Walsh is a special guy.

Yeah the Canucks boosting is curious at best here. Never forget that in the last 15 years that team has employed Brad May, Matt Cooke, Ed Jovonoski, Todd Bertuzzi, Raffi Torres, Ryan Kessler, Kevin Bieksa, Alexandre Burrows, Maxim Lapiere, Zack Kassian, and probably more that I’m forgetting. These are some of the most deplorable names to play the sport in that time. It’s going to take millennia to wash that stink off. And even then I would never cheer for those turds.

He sure is.
The goaltending situation in VGK is going to be one of the more interesting storylines of the off-season.
The team looks pretty committed to Lehner, and I think they are going to do whatever it takes to re-sign him, but will be unable to keep Fleury if they do so. He has been the face of that franchise since their inception—this could end up being a very messy divorce, especially for a player who ended up in Vegas in the first place under conspicuously similar circumstances.

It will be interesting how Vegas gets out from under a 2 year 7 M contract on a 35 year goalie coming off a weak year.
Kipper's last year in the NHL he was 35 coming off his worst year.

He's special all right. Remember how he stated that Peters devalued and marginalized Frolik and when he and his player got their wish in a trade Frolik ends up a healthy scratch in Buffalo?

Single handedly crushing his career “good guy” image. Never heard a poor word said about Frolik. In his twilight his agent decides to test it.
