Listened on the radio, finally saw highlights.
I loved the Bennett one timer goal. Favorite PP goal this year.

Didn’t want to win this in 5 anyway. Time off in a bubble won’t be good for these guys.

If I miss a game I trust the game summary from the CPers that I trust to be resonable and objective. Based on that sounds like flames were largely outplayed. Listened to loubo and wills on 960 on the way home from work and they were sunshine and rainbows. Take home msg on 960 was top line was dangerous and much better 5 on 5. Doesn’t sound like this was the case.

Stars are sending a ton of volume towards the net but I don't really think the Flames were as terrible as the sentiment is here. They played much better than last game. Its a tight series. But I think if I were a Stars fan I'd be worried. The Stars are going all out and just getting by with a tied series.
Flames just need a bit more polish on the puck management.

I say cheer for the win instead of hoping changes work out. The only way to advance to the final 4 or whatever arbitrary goal one chooses is to win this series.

Alright CP walk me off the ledge. I know it’s a 2-2 series and we are definitely still in it but this one hurts. The lack of killer instinct and the mental breakdowns is tough. What is it about this franchise and the tendency to choke or not get the job done.
I see quite a few positives and there have been guys who have stepped up but it’s like you know the script when these things happen. As soon as they tied up the game you just knew Dallas was going to end the night with a W. I love this team but it’s constantly the same thing over and over. How do we conquer our demons and get to the next level. Also this is not a post saying we need to trade everyone and fire coaches etc. I believe the answers are in the room but it’s something about the Calgary Flames that just screams failure.

We're fine as long as I don't watch from the cursed house. Don't worry.

Reminds me of an old joke about a captain falling asleep behind the wheel and causing a plane crash into the sea. As the crew floats in their life-jackes waiting for the rescue, the second pilot says:
- Sorry guys, it was all my fault; I should have taken over control.
Navigating offices says:
- No, my bad. I should have noticed that we are off course earlier.
Flight attendant says:
- No, it's on me. I should have made some fresh coffee.
Captain looks at them all and says:
- You almost killed me, motherf..kers!

They’ve been outplayed the last 3 games, it’s really disheartening to see.

I think we were outplaying them today until the parade to the penalty box ensued.

That definitely derailed our game plan. However, in the 3rd most of the calls against us were legit, the refs just didn’t seem to want to call anything on Dallas. Frustrating but we need to be more disciplined. Take the positives, learn from the negatives, burn the tape and come out gunning in game 5.

I’m not all that upset. IMO Flames are playing hard and showing more heart than in their last 2 playoff series.
I’m satisfied with the coaching, effort, goaltending thus far. IMO this team is what they showed they are in the regular season, a bubble playoff team. So squaring off against one of the better teams and battling to a 2-2 tie after four games is quite acceptable. This series is winnable and likely going to require a good break or two for the winning team.
After the first 60 or so games last year it was fair to believe that this team had elite talent but I just don’t think that’s the case. As big a sample as 60 games may be, we have seen enough before and after that to suggest that may not be their default level. Good hard working teams that stay healthy can make deep playoff runs though. I still hope that’s what we’re looking at.

I think Gios.minutes should be cut but who takes up the slack?
His puck handling seems really off in both series. Whiffing a lot on passes and throwing muffins at their goalie. He looks very slow and I think they need to pressure the defence when their in our end. Dallas has way too much time and space at the blue line.

Wyf was making me do yard work today, so I wasn't able to watch your game, however, I did see the highlights. You guys/gals have complained about Bennett in the regular season, you can have no complaints about his playoff run.
I noticed that on the GWG, Dube's shattered stick was laying off to the right. And the Stars were able to isolate him and take advantage of his missing stick. It would be unfortunate if the stick was broken by an uncalled slash, but, as I said, I wasn't able to watch the game, so was unsure how the poor guy got disarmed.

Brodie broke his stick slashing at a puck, Dube gave him his stick to replace it.

The top line was more dynamic than they’ve been.

This is more or less where I am. It has become clear that the Flames just don't have any elite talent. We don't have an answer for Heiskinan.
But they're working hard. And they've given us a few great stories (Bennett's emergence, Dube's emergence, Lucic's resurgence, Talbot's performance, etc).
I'm not sure where the Flames, as an organization, go after this season. We seem to be stuck in limbo again. Nonetheless, I'm just going to try to enjoy the next couple of games (win or lose).

The biggest deciding factor in the game really was the penalties. The players who kill penalties were all tired by late in the third. Not all the penalties were questionable, but some were and some plays that weren't called were also questionable. Really, I don't know what the refs are doing, but their decisions played a role in the game that felt like a random chance generator.
The Flames did play better anyways. It was good to see the first line going more, and the team is showing spirit in these games. I do wish that they would stay on the attack when they've got a lead though. It feels as though every time they get a lead they stop being aggressive and become content just to clear their own zone rather than keeping the play in Dallas's end.
