Since the seasons messed anyways, they should have made OT 4 on 4.

12:02 away from the longest game in modern NHL history.

I remember staying up late to watch that Stars / Ducks game. Petr Sykora with the winner, a wicked one timer.

EDIT: Actually, here's that winner...

And here's the Flyers / Pens. Everyone remembers this one I'd bet, the Primeau cutback goal.

49 seconds and it will be the fourth-longest of all-time.

12:02 and it will be the third-longest of all-time and the longest of the modern era.

I enormously prefer the idea of awarding each team 1 win after 3OT.

Not that they have choice now, but would Boston/Carolina rather play late tonight or now do back to back? I dunno.

I still remember that Canucks-Stars game. Both teams played snoozefest trap hockey at the time.

^I remember it too, and I remember it very differently... the game was 5-4 and the Stars had 70+ shots. Hard to call that snoozefest trap hockey.

They've already postponed Bruins Canes until tomorrow. You know, assuming this game actually ends by then.

Obviously it couldn't be done in an elimination game...

By the way, if you're wondering about utterly unbreakable NHL records, you'd think that in the game that has seen the most shots by a team and the most shots total, someone would be closing in on most shots by a single player. Well, Victor Hedman has the most shots in this game with 9.

Ray Bourque once had 19 shots in a game.

Hedman's not even halfway there.
