Crash and Bang Winger
|
Like many I enjoy reading Edmontonians reactions to the loss.
NOT many Oiler Fans posting much of of anything. In the past when the Oilers collapsed they'd angrily bombard their fan forums but not this time. Seems this seriously has stunned their faithful.
Those that are posting are still blinded by their two 20 million dollar superstars. They can be tsk tsked but "need better wingers". I'm gob smacked at the number of them blaming Tippett. Once again their heroes aren't the problem its the coach.
Sure looks like the death knell for top heavy, super star laden rosters like Edmonton and Pittsburgh. Toronto is worse and far from out of the woods and even if they do shake off Columbus they won't go far.
Still Oiler fans cling to keeping both expensive super stars. They are going nowhere if they don'y accept trading one of them. Either way i watched that whole game and niether Drysaitl nor McDavid are any where near 200 foot players.
Compare that to Gaudreau and Monahan whom we've seen playing hard in their own end, the way a well structured team expects them too. We have even seen big old Lucic hustle back and be the first forward back on occasion. It can be taught just apparently not in Edmonton.

Edmonton was gifted an entire series of games in their own building and yet somehow lost to the lowest seed.
"Spoiled, entitled and incompetent" should be the Oilers' motto.
They are the Jared Kushner of the NHL.
That is the definition of no good.

One can make excuses when a guy like Toews, with a proven track record, wills his way to victory, but, what possible excuse can be made when you are destroyed because your players can't be bothered to even cover a Matthew Highmore?
There was an insane amount of "this guy scored" moments, in this series.

13 out of 14 years they've missed the playoffs, 4 out of 5 years with McDavid and now 3 straight years missed again.
What a #### organization.
If they win another draft lottery I'm going to snap. There is no team on this planet less deserving of it.

Does Oilers management sell Draisaitl at its highest value? Most likely get a top 2 dman that can log big minutes top 6 forward and multiple picks.
But its the Oilers they will ride McDavid and Draisaitl until they want out.

A top 2 D, top 6 F and multiple picks? For Drai? Sorry, no. They could likely get a top 2 D, but nothing more.

First four series wins on Rogers Place ice:
1. Calgary wins
2. Taylor Hall wins
3. Edmonton loses
4. Vancouver wins
If your only goal was to piss off Oiler fans, you couldn't script it any better

Come on now. They can easily get a package that includes Top 2 dman and Top 6 forward.
You don't think Buffalo would give up Ristolainen and Reinhart so Eichel can play with him?
Carolina is another team.. Florida and Minnesota as well. Maybe the Islanders too.

They are mentally broken. For the past decade, due to futility, they have been conditioned by their media to only incease their intensity when playing the Flames. Playing the Flames has been their stanley cup, and now when the real thing happens, they are so unprepared and get rolled. TSN was at least honest and ripped them saying they were completely out classed and if it was a best of 7 they would have lost in 5.
Some teams are built for playoffs and some are not. Clearly the oilers are a team built for exhibition games.

I guess Risto would be a top two defenceman on Edmonton...but on a playoff team? He’s a #4 or #5. He’s also horrible defensively, so yeah...would be perfect for Edmonton.

I can't see any universe in which the Oilers trade either of the two players carrying their entire roster. I think they'll look to trade overpaid garbage like Russell and Neal (the latter of whom eventually gets bought out), and maybe they move on from RNH if they can't get him to agree to re-signing.

There is only a .17% chance that would occur randomly so this proves that there is a 99.83% chance the oilers are no good.
