Tkachuk is a rat####. But he's our rat####. Enjoy it. Is all I'm saying.
Anyways, that's all I got to say about it!

What makes you think I let it affect my opinion or that I didn't enjoy the win? I very much did.
Now we are all discussing the game and much of the discussion is about Tkachuk.
You are discussing the fact that people are discussing it - are you letting it take away from you enjoying the win? No? Then why why do you think others are?

If I was Tkachuk, I would come out and say that I was trying to injur him, with a clean hit. You want to hurt a guy when you hit him, you want every guy you play against to look over their shoulder to see if you're coming. It would have been a clean hit but shiefele tried to get out of the way. At that level, you should know how to both throw and take a clean hit. He should keep trying to hit everyone on the team, they can take the punishment of the hit or put themselves at risk of an accident. Either way, keep hitting everyone with more clean hits.

I can understand the initial reaction to the Schiefele thing as a dirty hit by Tkatchuk - but I’ve watched the replays dozens of times in real speed and slow motion - there is no way there was any intent other than to make a hockey play. The player turned away awkwardly and it unfortunately caused an injury... no blame - just bad luck.
Laine injury had nothing to do with Gio’s “crosscheck” and is more likely to be a stinger caused when he elbowed Gio on the chin (which should be looked at by the league as a head shot more than Tkatchuk play being looked at). But in all seriousness, this is playoff hockey and emotions get up on both sides. Move on to game two where I am sure both sides will have new stuff to gripe about.

I’m not sure I agree with wanting to hurt someone every time you hit them. I would guess most players feel the same way. You want to wear them down as the game goes along. Make them know to be aware. But nobody truly wishes to hurt someone. At least by my perspective.

Ya it's pretty rare that players actually want to hurt one another. That behavior is reserved for only the lowliest of degenerates (Cooke, Kassian, etc..)

Jets were not the better team last night. I think they will play hard but the loss of two key players is going to hit them hard. I think Laine hurts his hand when it goes into the boards after he accidentally ran into Gio. I am sure Lainenis more worries about whether this will affect his fortnite stats than the hockey.
That being said Maurice doesn’t go off easily but unless they release that video feed and it shows something blatant, that was hockey and it sucked but it is a dangerous sport. Scheifele doesn’t explode a knee from a kick?

Quoted for out of thanks. This is the best take on both plays I have seen. I know 90% of the uproar is about selling a story for the media and Maurice deflecting from his team's play and creating an enemy but it has gotten very Edmonton-ish. Sad to see that. Hope Scheifele ends up ok. Everyone playing their role here and at least Tkachuk knows the ropes and won't back down.

Well. I didn't hang around after the game because, well, I am old and I need my sleep. Imagine waking up to this whiny, deadly force hatred towards Chucky. If SN continues the narrative, it is so they don't have to cover that disgusting display by "their" team, the Oilers. And by continuing to give the Jets coverage, they don't have to cover the heck of a game by the losers of the NHL, the Flames.
Go Flames!

Well.
Geoff Ward was right.
He said he felt the fellas were sincere about wanting to win.
That it was fresh in their minds losing, last year the way they did vs the AVS.
I was mortified however when Tkachuk hit Chef and the result was our bench deflating.
I've seen that one too many times from our guys and don't understand it.
Tkachuk dragging this whole team into battle, willing them to up their game leads by example.
Just glad they won. I turned the game off after thr 1st and went to bed and woke up to a W.
Guess the fellas need to watch the future captain of this team and follow his lead.
Go Flames

I like that the Flames are underappreciated and maybe even vilified by the media. I think it would make me embarrassed to have a bunch of unearned praised heaped upon my team. Especially if they were, in reality, the worlds worst sports franchise...

Adam Lowry on the Tkachuk hit this morning: "I agree with what Paul said last night. I don’t think it’s accidental."
Eric Francis @EricFrancis
Lowry on whether thinks Tkachuk is dirty player: "I don't know if I'm going call him a dirty player but he is a bit reckless."

If we really want to break down the mechanics of the injury, the problem was the speed Schiefle was carrying when he tried to spin away from the hit. And that he tried to turn away from the hit, when taking it would’ve been one of the common 30 hits along the boards that happen all game with players legs all near the board.
If you notice his front skate (right skate) somewhat lost an edge as he tried the hard cut, and with momentum he had in meant it put him that much closer to the boards and that right skate hit the boards sideways, however, that initial skip on the right skate meant the trailing left skate couldn’t come around and clear the boards as planned, and therefore instead of the side of the left skate rubbing against the boards like the right one did, the left skate has got the toe stuck flush squarely to boards....and then both the knee and ankle (which is offset at an angle when he’s hurt on the ice) take the full twisting torque.

Don't teams have the ability to "send tape" to the league when they have a big grievance? If so why wasn't this Blue Line reel sent to support the assassination attempt?
I think basically there must have a been a third skater on a grassy knoll that took out Scheifele. Where is the Zapruder footage Maurice!!

Sure doesn't sound like a team ready to rally around their injured star and fight through some adversity. Sounds like a kid pouting in the corner after he accidentally dropped his ice cream on the ground!!

If you note, Lowry was in the ice at the end of the game trying to stir stuff up. Smartly, Ward had Lucic out there too and resulted in that final scrum.

Eakins IIRC.
For Lowry to come out after all this has been looked at by league player safety etc, and claiming it was on purpose....is ridiculous.
What a clown show Maurice started.

Yup, that is when I noticed how big Lowry is.
