Lol Pelosi called the virus the "Trump virus".

Honestly I don't think it's helpful in any way, but it did make me chuckle.

Actually the dems need more fighters like Pelosi, allowing Trump to spew his garbage with a fight back makes him look strong.

GOP gonna GOP. I'm guessing Trump will likely pardon these clowns after they're convicted.

https://www.npr.org/2020/07/21/89349...bribery-scheme

Quote:
FBI agents arrested Ohio House Speaker Larry Householder on Tuesday morning at his rural farm. Householder was taken into custody in connection with a $60 million bribery scheme allegedly involving state officials and associates.

Four others were also arrested: former Ohio Republican Party Chairman Matt Borges, Householder adviser Jeffrey Longstreth and lobbyists Neil Clark and Juan Cespedes.
The charges are linked to a controversial law passed last year that bailed out two nuclear power plants in the state while gutting subsidies for renewable energy and energy efficiency.

The federal complaint describes a years-long bribery campaign to build support for Householder's bid to become House speaker and then pass the nuclear bailout law with his help.
Quote:
Householder, Longstreth, Clark, Borges and Cespedes were each charged with "conspiracy to participate, directly or indirectly, in the conduct of an enterprise's affairs through a pattern of racketeering activity." The charge carries a maximum of 20 years in prison.

His motivation for saying what he did. There is speculation that he is attempting to signal to her that if she keeps quiet about whatever she knows about him, he'll attempt to help her. It's kind of hard to tell with this President whether that sort of thing is just silly conspiracy-theory-level nonsense or a legitimate possibility.

In (I almost can't believe I'm saying this) oddly positive news, Trump held a COVID briefing and not only told people it's going to get worse before it gets better (honesty... what?) but also encouraged people to wear masks.

Handlers taking a different tactic to turn the approval ratings around? or weird blip on the radar? Only time will tell!

140k American deaths didn’t change his mind about masks.

A couple weeks of bad polls did.

Yeah, it could simply be that an adviser said to him, 'there are photos of you with her, so just acknowledge that you've met her, and don't say anything to make it weird.' So of course he immediately says something weird because he's incapable of figuring out the normal thing to say or way to act in any circumstance.

Biden is up a point in Texas right now. It's only one point, in one poll. But Trump better start pulling it together.

Biden needs to avoid the trap Hillary fell into, going for states that don't matter. Texas may look getable, but it's a luxury and not a necessity. Forcing Trump to play defense there is nice, but there's no need to put any meaningful resources there because there are far easier and more likely paths to win. Getting Florida basically ends any chance for Trump, Biden polling much better there, so the focus should be there.

Yeah I mean it's obviously not a statistic that suggests Biden should start dumping excessive resources into Texas, more speaks to the surging Corona cases in FL/TX actually being favourable for Biden.

Oh no doubt. Trump probably strolls to re-election with a marginally competent response to this (and the Floyd murder). Instead he not only dicks both situations up, but he does even worse than you thought he would. It's why we're seeing his shift this week.

Probably doesn’t help things when the Texas governor’s approval ranking is below 50% too. Source: https://www.google.com/amp/s/cbsaust...ng-to-new-poll

I’d like to think that, as a Texan, people here are finally realizing that the GOP doesn’t care about you as an individual and responding accordingly, but I think that it is more likely that the polls are just a reflection of people being anti-mask and the like.

Well, that and the fact that Abbott’s handling of the pandemic has been indescribably bad.

That's what happens when you have a need to make every statement about yourself but you really shouldn't for once. His brain totally misfired.

One of the factors with Texas is that it's an incredibly expensive media market. If Democrats force Trump to spend money there without actually spending a lot themselves, that's a huge win. But they don't want to get into a situation where they've sunk money in and feel like they need to keep spending.

I think North Carolina is the best 'expand the map' state. It's traditionally been Republican except for 2008, but Democrats have recently won state-wide elections there (Governor and Attorney General), and there's a key, winnable senate race there as well. The Governorship and Attorney General's office will help limit election shenanigans that could go on in other traditionally red states like Texas and Georgia.

As a white person, that poll just makes me so sad and angry at white people. Get it together.

The 29% of Hispanics that are voting for Trump is truly mind numbing. I guess they are the ones that aren't bringing the crime, the drugs. and they are the non-rapists..
