You'd think they'd proofread properly before releasing. "Officers Lange and Kueng."

Sure, but it wouldn't be the first time someone obviously guilty got off...remember 12 random Minnesotan's are going to be making the final call on guilt...you betcha!

I did post earlier that it was an assumption. However, he had been in the force 18 years. The others were not as experienced.

3rd degree charge appears to still be intact, though I'm not holding out hope for anything higher than a manslaughter conviction.

As perhaps vile as it is to say, I also think the only outcome that fully satisfy most people is a Chauvin suicide in custody.

I would think the vast majority want to see him in jail instead of escaping via suicide.

Yeah one of them should have said, "hey, watch it, you're might kill him." but it is a crime?
I was charged with theft when my cousin stole something when I was with him. Not doing something to stop it makes you just as guilty, at least here in Canada it does.

I mean it only from the perspective that inevitably the sentence will be perceived to be inadequate by some segment of the population and there will be protests and demonstrations on sentencing day. The only scenario in which that doesn't happen is if he kills himself.

If it's a manslaughter conviction and not murder, black people will take that as "you're basically allowed to murder us" which will be a second wave of unpleasant demonstration.

I suspect he pleads down to manslaughter and a reduced sentence.

Agreed, though that is also a scenario that will leave many unhappy.

I suspect they will have difficulty in finding any jury, even if it was comprised of hood wearing KKK members who wouldn't think they didn't want to be responsible for a vast outbreak of riots ala LA in order to help a bunch of cops who clearly killed a guy for no reason, even racists are thinking 'you stupid flatfoot, don't even have the good sense to kill him in private'.

Yes but in the scenario where he successfully pleads down to manslaughter the max becomes 10 years which is a somewhat unsatisfactory result, even with a jury of 10 people from the NAACP.

It definitely will, but most DAs offer plea agreements to guarantee the guilty plea and pad their stats.

My guess is they will let the others plead down, probably in return for some testimony incriminating Chauvin but I think they are going to burn him, no one is going to lift a finger to help him now.

I was thinking that too, haha. They also talked about palates of bricks showing up randomly everywhere. I just kept thinking they were probably not noticed sitting there before or just maybe, there's probably a construction project going on.

I wonder how cages full of bricks and stones was the winning idea when figuring out installing permanent barricades on a sidewalk?

I wouldn't want to be the DA who takes the heat for making that offer. I doubt the cop could offer anything to make it worthwhile.

And then what? I mean, it doesn't really matter how long he serves, his life is over. He's f&^%$#.

Gabions are probably significantly cheaper/ easier than installing bollards
