They've been trying in Chicago, but getting beat down. it's a focal point of protest but police have had a line setup protecting it since night one.

I'm gonna need a link to that. Backlash against out of touch celebrities has been one of my favorite parts of the lockdown.

Slight tangent on this thread here for a moment, but I just want to send out some love to CP right now. I realize that there are a lot of differing opinions here, there are arguments and disagreements, even in this thread there have been some heated exchanges.

But I just made the mistake of glancing in on a Penguins message board that I'll sometimes check, and in their thread regarding this, they're lauding the NYPD officer who barreled into protesters. "Good for him. They didn't give him any choice."

In my neighborhood, in my city, in my county close to downtown Pittsburgh it is a pretty blue area. Relatively diverse population. But man, the minute you get a little bit past the inner suburbs, it's a wasteland of some of the worst kind of Trump supporters.

So for all that we have arguments and different viewpoints here, I'm glad that at least it seems that we all here can see clearly where police are overstepping their bounds, where they're abusing their authority, and we can all collectively be appalled by it, not lauding it as if protesters deserve to be run down in the streets.

If I knew how I would. It was a very very calm almost depressed sounding five minute long rant. He sounded like he was gonna break down right on the air. He sounded so defeated.

Probably thinking about what he’s going to do once the mob of 100+ people that are surrounding and beating his car are going to do once he’s completely trapped. Burn him alive? What should he have done in that situation?

Speaking of de-escalating, here is a guy who never would've passed any standard psychological test. He is pumped to get going and bash some skulls, can't wait. The all geared and coked up ready to go.

Update - real shocker here, he called someone a b*itch then shot them. To protect and serve.

In 2020, with thousands of hours of video being nationwide being posted to Twitter every minute, and every news outlet on the planet covering this story, I think a better course of action would be to sit your 9-year-old down and explain to them what's going on in the safety of your own home.

In the middle of an effing pandemic? Should have just sprayed the parents twice.

Better, yes. But it doesn't make them a "POS parent".

The count of cops being burned alive remains at zero. Great decision. He avoided being just another statistic.

I don't think it's a controversial take to say that this would ultimately good for the welfare of our country, because it at least stops the inevitable protests and destruction that will come at the end of this investigation when anything less than life in prison is given, which we know is impossible given the charges.

That said, I also think this investigation running its course is critical for there to be any kind of systemic change specifically within Minneapolis police. A dead Chauvin doesn't help that.
